iOS 18 should integrate reminders within the Calendar app, allowing you to schedule and organize reminders and events in one place instead of switching apps.

AppleInsider has learned that Apple’s built-in Calendar app on iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS 15 features basic reminder functionality for the first time although that doesn’t mean that the standalone Reminders app will be going away.

You can create new reminders within Calendar and organize them with tags and notes. Like Reminders, you can specify a date, time, and location for new reminders and assign them priorities—all without using the Reminders app.

Any reminders created this way will automatically appear in the Reminders app. This sounds a lot like the integration of reminders and events in Flexibits’ Fantastical app.

Rumor: iOS 18 to integrate reminders into the Calendar app

Marko Zivkovic, AppleInsider:

Tapping or right-clicking an area within the Day, Week or Month views in pre-release versions of the new Calendar app will reveal an option that prompts the user to either set a reminder or schedule an event. Both can be scheduled from the same UI element, allowing for greater convenience.

Zivkovic previously reported on other claimed iOS 18 features for AppleInsider, including a revamped macOS Calculator app resembling the iPhone version, plus mathematical notation and recording voice notes in the Notes app.

According to MacRumors, iPadOS 18 will bring a native iPad version of the Calculator app for the first time. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman claims that many of the stock apps in iOS 18 will be overhauled to be more “modular” and “easier to update and customize,” including Photos, Mail, Notes and Fitness.

AI features coming to iOS 18

iOS 18 is expected to use large language models that should run directly on the device, boosting AI capabilities in Apple’s software without requiring the power of the cloud. Some AI improvements in iOS 18 might require upcoming devices featuring Apple silicon with a beefed-up Neural Engine.

We’ll learn about this and more at Apple’s upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference in June, where it’ll reveal the latest updates for its software platforms.
