How to have Safari notify you of website changes and updates
Find out how to set Safari in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 Golden Gate to alert you when a website publishes new posts, an out-of-stock item comes back in stock, concert tickets go on sale, and so forth.
I think we’ve all been there, waiting eagerly for an item to come back in stock, the price to drop, a new company update to be pushed to the Newsroom website, or registration for the summer camp to open. In these cases, we keep visiting that site at regular intervals or hit refresh periodically.
The newest version of Safari on iPhone, iPad, and Mac adds a native ‘Notify Me’ feature that does this job for you. So, instead of you having to revisit or refresh a site, Safari can do this in the background every hour, every day, weekly, or monthly and notify you of the change.
But note that this new Safari feature only works on iPhone, iPad, and Mac that support Apple Intelligence.
Set Safari to notify you of changes and updates to a website
The fundamentals are similar for both iOS and macOS.
1) Update your iPhone, iPad, or Mac to iOS 27, iPadOS 27, or macOS 27 Golden Gate (currently all are in beta).
2) Open Safari and visit a website. For this example, I’m visiting Tesla’s store page for their NEMA Adapter Bundle, which is currently out of stock.
3) Tap the menu icon in the address bar and select the new Notify Me option.

4) Tap a suggestion if you see it or manually describe what you want Safari to look for. Here are a few examples of what you can type in the box:
- Alert me when the item is back in stock.
- Notify me when the pre-order opens.
- Alert me when a new post is published.
If Safari can’t do what you typed, it will throw an error. Try changing your description. I also found that the Notify Me feature doesn’t work on all websites.
Secondly, allow Safari to send you notifications if it asks.
5) After setting the description, tap Edit and select if you want Safari to check hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly. You can also change the time to something more suitable or relevant. For instance, if you’re tracking a drop in price for a dish from a restaurant that opens at 11 AM, set the time to something like 11:05 AM.
If you see an error, start over and don’t change the time.
6) Finally, tap the blue checkmark icon to save the alert.
Safari will now work in the background and alert you of the change.
I set up this feature to notify me when a new post is published on iDB’s website. And when that happens, it sends me a notification. I can tap the notification to visit that webpage. And from there, I can decide to stop or continue getting these notifications.
See all websites you have asked Safari to monitor and edit or delete them
You can view them all in browser settings.
iPhone or iPad
- Open iOS 27 Settings, tap Apps from the bottom, and select Safari from the list of applications.
- Scroll down and tap Notify Me.
- You’ll see a list of all websites here. Select a website and tap to edit what Safari is currently looking for. Or, change the time and frequency, or delete the alert altogether.
Mac
- Open Safari and click Safari > Settings from the top menu bar.
- Go to the Websites tab.
- Click Notify Me on the left side.
- Use the Edit or Delete buttons next to a website to make changes.
Many websites nowadays offer a built-in notification feature that alerts you of new posts. Plus, if an item is out of stock, they can send you an alert or email. In my tests, these native options are more reliable than Apple’s new feature. But if you come across a website that doesn’t offer these, you can use the new Safari Notify Me feature to get alerted.
