How to see per-device Personal Hotspot usage on iPhone

In this quick tutorial, we show you how to check the amount of cellular data each device has used when connected to your iPhone’s Personal Hotspot.

iOS has long allowed users to see the total amount of mobile data used on Personal Hotspot. iOS 26.4 takes it further by breaking down how that data was used.

It lists out the device names and how much data each used when connected to your iPhone’s Personal Hotspot. The one with the most usage is listed first, followed by the others.

There is also an Other Devices category that shows the Personal Hotspot data used by iPhone, iPad, and Mac running iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, and macOS 15.3 or earlier. Plus, it includes data used by Android and other devices.

View per-device data consumption of your iPhone Personal Hotspot

1) Update your iPhone to iOS 26.4 or later. As of now, it’s in the beta stage.

2) Open the Settings app and tap Personal Hotspot.

3) Wait for a couple of seconds, and tap Data Usage under the Maximize Compatibility option.

4) You’ll now see a list of devices that used your iPhone’s personal Hotspot after updating to iOS 26.4. All previous Personal Data usage numbers, and those from older Apple devices and Android devices, will be shown cumulatively in the Other Devices option.

The list shows the device name, model, and the amount of Personal Hotspot data used. Plus, you may also see when the usage was last updated (i.e., the last time that device connected to your iPhone’s hotspot).

Remember that the numbers here don’t update in real-time. Apple says that the Personal Hotspot usage numbers will update when you turn off the hotspot and when your carrier reports the final statistics.

In my tests, I found that the usage numbers also updated if I force-closed and reopened the iOS 26.4 Settings app.

Another thing to note is that even though the usage numbers from one of my Android devices were updated in the ‘Other Devices’ section (I noticed it increased by a few GBs), somehow usage from the old Samsung Galaxy M11 appeared with its own name.

Secondly, my iPhone 11 appeared twice. I didn’t reset the usage statistics or settings on either device, but I think forgetting the Personal Hotspot and rejoining it may have caused the same iPhone 11 to appear twice.

Reset your Personal Hotspot numbers

You may want to reset this data each billing cycle to better keep track of your usage. Unfortunately, the Data Usage pane in Personal Hotspot settings does not let you remove a device or reset its usage. The only way is to reset your entire cellular data usage, which will also reset the hotspot numbers.

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app and tap Cellular (called Mobile Service or Mobile Data in some regions).
  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Reset Statistics. Turning off ‘Enable Cellular Usage Statistics‘ will also reset the count.

If you don’t see the ‘Usage Data’ option in iPhone Personal Hotspot settings

Here are some tips to fix that:

  • Make sure your iPhone is running iOS 26.4 or later. As mentioned earlier, this version is currently in beta.
  • Force close and reopen the Settings app a couple of times.
  • Make sure you have used Personal Hotspot. The ‘Data Usage’ option doesn’t seem to show if you have not used Personal Hotspot at all.
  • Go to iOS 26.4 Settings > Cellular and turn on ‘Enable Cellular Usage Statistics’ from the bottom of the screen.
  • Restart your iPhone.
  • Access Data Usage in iPhone Settings > Cellular > Personal Hotspot.
  • Wait for iOS 26.4 to be available publicly.
  • Reset all settings, then use Personal Hotspot, and retry.
