In this step-by-step tutorial, we’ll walk you through resetting your forgotten iCloud and Apple Account (same thing) password using your working phone number and email address.

If you’ve forgotten your iCloud or Apple Account password, you can easily reset it using your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch. But if you don’t have access to your Apple devices, you can set a new iCloud account password after authenticating with your email address (Gmail, Hotmail, or something else) and phone number.

Try resetting your password on a non-Apple device

Since you don’t have access to any of your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch, visit iforgot.apple.com/password/verify/appleid in Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or another web browser on your Windows PC or Android phone.

Enter your known details and try resetting the passcode.

This method may work for some but not all. Apple may not allow you to reset the password solely using Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or other web browsers on a non-Apple device. It may ask you to verify using a code sent to your Apple device, and since you don’t have that, you’ll naturally click “Don’t have access to your device?”

And then it may ask you to follow the password reset steps on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch belonging to your family member, friend, or one at an Apple Store. We have explained the steps below.

Reset forgotten iCloud password using phone number and email address

What you’ll need:

• An iOS device belonging to anybody else. You can also go to an Apple Store and borrow a device; don’t worry, Apple allows it.
• You must know the mobile number added to your iCloud account. The mobile number must be active with a cellular plan so you can get the code via SMS.
• You must also know your iCloud account email address. It could be your Gmail, Hotmail, Outlook, iCloud, or some other email address that serves as your Apple ID.

1) Since you don’t have your own Apple device with you, borrow one from a family member, friend, or nearby Apple Store. You just need it for like 5 minutes, and none of your personal data will be saved on it.

2) Visit iforgot.apple.com on the borrowed iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

3) Tap Reset Password, followed by Help Someone Else.

4) Enter your Gmail, Outlook, Hotmail, iCloud, or other email address that’s your iCloud account and tap Continue.

5) Enter the mobile number linked to your iCloud account and hit Continue.

6) Tap Send code to phone number.

7) Enter the six-digit verification code you receive on your mobile number linked to your iCloud account.

8) If you have set up a Recovery Key for extra protection, you must enter that long 28-digit number and tap the go or > key. If you don’t have your account’s recovery key, you just can’t reset your password, and Apple Support may not be able to help either!

9) Finally, enter the new password you want to set and tap Continue. Soon, you’ll get the ‘Your Password Has Been Changed’ confirmation on the screen as well as an email sent to your Apple ID email address.

You can now use this new password to log in to iCloud on the web or other devices. For two-factor authentication, choose to get the code sent to your mobile number.
