How to stop iPhone app notifications from showing on Mac
In this quick tutorial, we’ll show you how to stop one or all iPhone app notifications from showing up on your Mac.
Once you set up iPhone Mirroring on your Mac running macOS Sequoia or macOS Tahoe, you’ll notice that your iPhone app notifications appear on your computer even when you’re not using iPhone Mirroring and your iPhone is locked.
While this can help catch up on iPhone alerts without waking it up, a constant barrage of iOS app notifications can also be disturbing, especially if you’re focusing on something important, watching a movie on full screen, recording the computer’s screen, or taking lots of screenshots in quick succession.
To address this, here’s how to stop app notifications from all or selected iOS apps from appearing on your Mac.
Stop selected iPhone apps from mirroring their notifications to Mac
- Open System Settings on your Mac.
- Click Notifications.
- Click ‘Allow notifications from iPhone.’
- Go through the list of iOS apps under the ‘Mirror iPhone Notifications From‘ section and turn off the switch for those whose alerts you don’t want on your Mac.
The above method is convenient because you can go through the full list of apps and turn them on or off. Aside from that, you can also go to iPhone Settings, tap Notifications, select an app, and turn off “Show on Mac” to stop its alert from appearing on your Apple computer.
Block all iPhone app notifications from showing on Mac
Follow these steps to prevent all app notifications from your iPhone(s) from appearing on your computer.
- Launch macOS System Settings and click Notifications.
- Click “Allow notifications from iPhone.”
- Turn off “Allow notifications from iPhone.” You can also choose to block iPhone Live Activities from showing up in your Mac’s top menu bar.
In case you never use iPhone Mirroring, go to the iPhone Mirroring app settings and revoke your iPhone’s access. This will also prevent all iOS app alerts from appearing on your Mac’s screen.
