How to turn off all call screening features on iPhone in iOS 26
Find out how to disable native and third-party call monitoring features on your iPhone to ensure no incoming calls (including robo, unknown, and spam calls) are flagged or blocked by the system. This way, you’ll receive all calls made to your number.
iPhone can automatically silence unknown calls and mute/block spam calls to cut down on distractions. But if this leads to you missing important calls that the system flags incorrectly, turning off these features can help.
Turn off iOS 26 call screening
Your iPhone can automatically:
- Silence all calls from people whose numbers are not saved on your phone and with whom you have not communicated via Messages or Mail. This means you may miss calls from delivery people and such.
- Pick up the call from unknown people on your behalf and ask the caller the reason for calling. If it’s important, you’ll be alerted to continue the call.
Many people swear by these features, but if you miss important calls, turn these off by following these steps:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap Apps from the bottom of the list.
- Select Phone.
- Scroll down to the Screen Unknown Callers section and tap Never.
- While you’re here, turn off the switch for Unknown Callers in the Call Filtering section.
Turn off call blocking apps
You can use your carrier app or a dedicated third-party call identification & blocking app like Truecaller and the excellent Simple Call Blocker to see potential spam callers and block them automatically. Or you can decline the call after seeing the ‘spam’ label on the call screen.
But if you find that incoming calls regularly disconnect within a second, or you don’t see their alert and only find them in red color in your recent call list, then follow these steps.
- Go to iPhone Settings > Apps and select Phone.
- Tap Call Blocking & Identification.
- Turn off the switches for the third-party apps you see here.
Manage call settings on the carrier level
If you miss a lot of calls, talk to your cellular carrier support or install their app, and check whether you have DND (Do Not Disturb) or another call-blocking feature enabled for your account.
Note: Some carriers have automatic spam detection that works on their backend (you don’t need to use their app or anything). When the cellular carrier detects a call or text that is dangerous or spam, they flag it as such without blocking it from reaching your phone.
Turn off FaceTime spam feature
Just like the Phone app, FaceTime also has a few similar options we talked about above. If you miss FaceTime audio or video calls, go to iPhone Settings > Apps > FaceTime and turn off Silence Unknown Callers and FaceTime Spam.
Other tips to keep in mind
The above tips are enough to disable all call screening features on your iPhone. Additionally, review these tips to ensure you don’t miss calls from certain people.
Check your blocked list: If you don’t get calls from a particular person, check whether you have accidentally blocked their number.
Turn on Call Waiting: This ensures you can get a new call even when you’re already on a call.
Make sure call forwarding is off: If you don’t get any phone calls on your number, check whether you have forwarded calls to another number and disable it if it’s active.
Add more phone numbers and email addresses for FaceTime: In case a distant family member, friend, or work colleague is unable to FaceTime you, they may have your number or email address that you haven’t added to FaceTime. Check where you can be reached via FaceTime and add additional accounts if needed.
What’s your reason for turning off all call screening features, even at the expense of getting spam calls?
