How to adjust Liquid Glass intensity of Lock Screen clock in iOS 26
Find out how to fine-tune the Liquid Glass transparency of the Lock Screen clock on your iPhone or iPad in iOS 26 to make it look super glassy, translucent, or somewhere in between.
People have had polarizing reactions to the new Liquid Glass software design. While some love it, there have been numerous complaints, mainly related to visibility issues.
To ensure everyone is happy, Apple has made several changes to Liquid Glass through incremental iOS 26 updates, tweaking the look of app menus, adjusting their transparency, and so on.
Additionally, iOS 26 lets you choose a clear or tinted Liquid Glass look in Settings > Display & Brightness > Liquid Glass. The tinted style increases opacity and adds more contrast, making text in notifications and elsewhere easier to read.
One more place where iOS gives you the liberty to adjust the Liquid Glass look is on the Lock Screen. You can use the visibility slider to make the clock more glassy (more transparent) or opaque.
Adjust the Liquid Glass effect for the iOS Lock Screen clock
1) Update your iPhone or iPad to iOS 26.2 or iPadOS 26.2 or later.
2) Touch and hold your unlocked Lock Screen and tap Customize.
3) Tap the digital clock to bring up its editing options.
4) Make sure Glass style is selected at the bottom. Then, drag the Liquid Glass slider to the left to make the clock more transparent, or to the right to make it translucent.
5) Tap anywhere outside the Font & Color editor to close it and then tap Done to save the new changes.
I like using the tinted Liquid Glass setting to make my notifications easier to read, but for my Lock Screen clock, I have made it as transparent and glassy as possible. It just hits right with colorful wallpapers. Of course, you’re free to set it to a level that looks right to you. Additionally, in my opinion, the Liquid Glass effect looks the best when you increase the clock size and select the first color option, as shown in the screenshot below.
And finally, note that the Liquid Glass effect in the Lock Screen clock may not work well with all wallpapers. Try switching to a different wallpaper if the effects don’t show. You can download awesome wallpapers from our website for free.
