Google launches the NotebookLM mobile app, bringing seamless AI audio podcasts to your iPhone

Google’s newly released NotebookLM app for iOS and Android brings Audio Overviews, a feature which can create an AI audio podcast from source material.
You can upload documents, like your resume, or give NotebookLM a URL to a webpage. After that, hit the icon to the right of the text field and choose “Generate” under “Audio Overview” to get an amazing-sounding podcast in seconds.
What’s more, you can interact with the virtual hosts; just hit “Join” to ask a question or steer the conversation in a new direction. You can also download these audio podcasts to your device for offline playback (background playback is supported).

The app also lets you upload up to a hundred documents, each up to 200,000 words in length, to have it generate summaries, quizzes, FAQs, timeline views and so on.
You can also interrogate documents, slides or Deep Research reports to find out key details. Google says more refinements and new features will be coming to both Android and iOS versions of NotebookLM in the future.
The app has an iOS extension that lets you share stuff to NotebookLM from any app. Just choose the NotebookLM option from the systemwide share menu when viewing a website, PDF or YouTube video to add it as a new source.
NotebookLM is a free download from Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store. The software supports the iPhone and iPad natively, and requires iOS 17 or later.
Audio Overviews: Mind-blowing AI podcasts
“Whether you’re in the subway tunnel, going through service dead spots or just looking to use less cellular data, you can keep the discussion going by downloading your Audio Overviews for offline playback,” Google writes. “And, offline or not, you can easily listen to them in the background — perfect for multi-tasking.”
I find NotebookLM utterly fascinating. The Audio Overviews feature has got to be one of the best use cases for AI I’ve encountered to date.
Generating podcasts from documents and web pages is a wild idea in and of itself, but Google’s flawless execution takes it to the next level. The realism of the male and female speaker voices as they go back and forth about the topic at hand is surreal, and you’d be hard pressed to distinguish them from actual humans.
You’d be missing out by not giving Audio Overviews a try. So go ahead, install NotebookLM on your iPhone, iPad or Android device, then feed it a quick document such as your resume and hear the results for yourself. You can also use NotebookLM n a browser at notebooklm.google.com.
