Win the latest Apple Watch fitness challenge today to earn a special limited-edition Earth Day virtual award

Apple Watch owners can earn an Earth Day limited-edition award on April 22 in a new fitness challenge designed to motivate people to get off the couch and move.
“Apple Watch users can earn an Earth Day limited-edition award by completing any workout of 30 minutes or more” on April 22, per the press release. You may record a workout in the built-in Workout app or any third-party app that writes data to Health.
Completing the challenge will earn you a virtual medal in the Awards section of the Fitness app on your iPhone and Apple Watch, along with exclusive animated stickers to use in your iMessage chats and on FaceTime calls.
Celebrate Earth Day with Apple
Aside from the Apple Watch activity challenge, Apple also announced a few other ways its customers can celebrate Earth Day, an annual event observed on April 22.

For example, recycling any eligible item at any Apple store location around the world until May 16 will earn you 10 percent off an Apple accessory. To take advantage of the offer, you must both recycle an eligible device and purchase a new eligible accessory in the same transaction between April 16, 2025, and May 16, 2025. You can find your trade-in value on the Apple Trade In page.
Yesterday, April 21, Apple released a new Time to Walk episode on Apple Fitness+ with actress and climate advocate Shailene Woodley. The built-in TV app on the iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV currently offers related movies and TV shows in a new section, titled “The Future Is Up to Us.”
The Apple TV video-streaming service highlights themed original series, specials and shorts, including “Jane,” “Stillwater,” “Earthsounds,” “Earth at Night in Color,” “Tiny World,” “Prehistoric Planet,” “” The Secret Lives of Animals,” “Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth” and others.
There’s even a special Earth Day collection in the built-in Tips app on the iPhone, iPad and Mac that highlights relevant features such as identifying plants in the Photos app, customizing and downloading offline Maps for outdoor journeys, saving electricity at home and more.
Apple’s environmental moves
Apple also announced it has surpassed a 60 percent reduction in global greenhouse gas emissions, but that’s just the usual greenwashing we see from other companies. For details on the company’s environmental efforts, visit apple.com/environment and peruse the company’s latest annual Environmental Progress Report, published today as a 126-page PDF document.
The iPhone maker recently celebrated 10 years of the Apple Watch activity rings, one of the marquee features of the wearable device, with a special fitness challenge bringing a limited-edition “Global Close Your Rings Day” virtual award.
