Opera Air brings mindfulness and wellness features to your web browsing in order to help relieve stress and improve focus while navigating the internet.

Opera Air is a full-featured web browser sporting a “minimalist Scandinavian design” and a frosted glass interface that wants to make you feel better when browsing the web. It brings mindfulness features you’d normally find in the built-in Mindfulness app on your Apple Watch, including breathing exercises and meditation.

But Opera Air doesn’t stop there. You also get features that improve your focus and motivation, including binaural beats and positive quotes. It even offers stretching exercises to relieve achy backs, knees, hips and more.

To reduce screen time, Opera Air lets you set a reminder to take a break and perform breathing exercises, meditation and a full body scan.

To boost your focus and put your mind into a meditative state, Opera Air provides a Boost feature that leverages binaural beats, which are basically two slightly different frequencies played in each ear. Several Boost presets are available, including Creativity Boost, Energized Focus, Deep Relaxation and others. You can set a Boost session to run for at least 15 minutes, choose the background music, adjust the volume of the waves and change the sounds of nature.

From the announcement:

In Opera Air, mindfulness enters the browsing experience in a non-disruptive way. Users can, for example, keep browsing or working on a document while listening to the ‘Focused Calm’ Boost that uses Alpha 8Hz beats, along with background music and sounds of nature that will allow them to achieve a state of focused calm that will be useful to them as they work or read.

Opera Air is hardly the first piece of software to incorporate wellness features. Apple’s platforms provide built-in features to monitor and reduce your screen time, and other operating systems have similar capabilities. As mental health gained prominence during the pandemic, popular third-party apps, such as Instagram and YouTube, brought similar features designed to reduce screen time.

Opera Air is currently in early access and available for macOS, Windows and Linux. Opera Air is available to download from the company’s website.
