The tenth-generation iPad has become Apple’s entry-level iPad after the company discontinued the ninth-generation iPad following its “Let Loose” event.

This is now the most affordable iPad for anyone in the market for an entry-level Apple tablet. The price of the budget iPad hgas fluctuated over the years, sometimes dropping as low as $329 and at times breaking past the $400 barrier.

The last two budget iPads are great examples of that. The ninth-generation iPad launched in September 2021 with an introductory price of just $329.

But when iPad 10 arrived in October 2022, it started at $449 for the Wi-Fi version. Thankfully, iPad 10 now sells for $100 less (this is a permanent price reduction). At $349, it’s just $20 more than the $329 asking price of the ninth-generation model.
iPad 10 is the first budget iPad to swap the outdated Home button design with fat screen borders for the same fullscreen look as on Face ID iPads, except there’s no Face ID. Instead, a Touch ID sensor is integrated into the power button.

This makes video alls in landscape mode more natural as you don’t appear to look sideways. It is also the first base model to swap the Lightning connector for USB-C and drop the headphones jack.

Apple updates iPad Pro and iPad Air

Apple refreshed the iPad lineup at the “Let Loose” event by introducing its first OLED-based iPad Pro models with M4, a brand-new Apple Pencil Pro and a refreshed iPad Air lineup with M2 and a new 13-inch model.

Other Apple tablets weren’t updated at the event. For example, the iPad mini was last updated in September 2021 when it received the first redesign in years with Face ID replacing the Home button.
