Welcome back to the weekend, it’s time for another episode of our Apps of the Week roundup! This week we have some great picks for you including a non-ChatGPT AI assistant, a speech coach, and a digital wallet for your stablecoins. And as always, we’ve selected a fun new game for you to check out.

Claude

Stop me if you’ve heard this before: Claude is a trusted AI assistant that can help you with anything from writing, to math. Sounds familiar, right? There’s a big difference here though. Where most apps essentially just act like a gateway to ChatGPT, Claude is actually its own separate AI model. In fact, it’s a direct competitor to ChatGPT, and according to Google-backed Anthropic (the makers of Claude), it performs better than the GPT family of language models in most instances. Claude is completely free to use, but like ChatGPT, it hides its most powerful model, Claude 3 Opus, behind its paid Pro plan.

Credible: Speech Coach

So yeah, um, like, this is Credible, and um, like it’s an app, or whatever, designed to um, like, fix your, um, speech. See what I did there? That’s exactly what this app is designed to fix. It listens to you speak and offers real-time feedback to let you know when you are using the “forbidden” filler words like such as like and um. The idea here is you get the corrected action without having to train every day, or take lengthy courses, or engage in hours long practices. Just let Credible listen in on your normal, every day conversations in class, with friends, in meetings, etc. and it will help you improve. Note that your audio is processed on-device, so it never sees the cloud, but I probably still wouldn’t leave it on while planning a heist. “So, um, like, there are 4, um, security cameras, in the, like, lobby—sorry guys, can I turn on Credible?” Jokes aside, it’s obvious how something like this could help you improve your speech when getting ready for things like job interviews or presentations. It’s completely free to try for 3 days, and then you must purchase a 1-month, 1-year or lifetime license.

Stables – Stablecoin wallet

Ah yes, crypto is BACK baby! Seriously, remember when new apps were all either crypto wallets or crypto-related? Then we went years without seeing any? Anyway, Stables is a reliable and secure crypto wallet with a focus on stablecoins. These include USDC, Tether, and others, and they are a popular type of cryptocurrency because they don’t typically have the massive daily swings that you can see with other coins. Features include the ability to buy and sell stablecoins, easy withdraws to a wallet or bank account, a MasterCard that connects to your Stables wallet, and much more. Obviously, this is an extremely niche app, but hey, if you’re into or at least are curious about stablecoins, check it out!

Slash Quest!

At first glance, this may just look like another fun platformer with quirky graphics, and…that’s exactly what it is. Slash Quest! features a Queen, whose ever-growing talking sword gets lost in a faraway land, and you, an unlikely knight with zero skills and big heart, are tasked with retrieving it. Features include a unique growing sword mechanic, customizable controls, 12 upgradable skills, 20+ collectable cosmetic items, mini games, and more. There are 12 unique levels to play, 8 characters, and several bosses to fight. The beginning of the game is free, and if you like it, a one-time IAP will unlock the whole thing, so no ads ever. Seems like a solid way to spend your Saturday afternoon!
