It was a big day for a lot of iPhone and iPad owners as iOS developer Lars Fröder (@opa334dev) officially released a much-anticipated TrollStore 2 with support for firmware newer than iOS & iPadOS 15.4.1 for the first time. But as we touched on in our announcement post, there wasn’t yet a way for all device and firmware combinations to install it, but Misaka developer @straight_tamago has just made it easier, at least for some.

In the latest Misaka release, dubbed version 3.2.4, @straight_tamago implemented a MacDirtyCow and kfd exploit-based TrollStore 2 installer. The new installer appears in the Misaka app’s Toolbox, which can be found in the Packages tab by tapping on the floating blue package button. Doing so brings up the Install TrollStore option, shown above.

After you open the TrollStore 2 Installer, you will find a list of apps on your device that you can use as the conduit to install TrollStoreHelper. Currently, you can pick from Tips, Books, and Home. Tips is generally the most-used, as barely anyone uses that app once they become accustomed to their device. A respring button is also provided here.

Since the TrollStore 2 installer in Misaka takes advantage of the MacDirtyCow and kfd exploits, this means that TrollStore 2 can only be installed via these methods if you have a device running iOS or iPadOS 14.0-16.6 beta 1. Currently, there is no known way to install TrollStore on newer firmware, such as iOS or iPadOS 17.0 (which is supported by TrollStore 2), but the developers are working on a way to change that for the future.

Misaka also picked up other minor updates since our last coverage of the package manager app. Those smaller updates included version 3.2.3 and 3.2.2, each of which were smaller bug fix updates comprised of the following changes:

Misaka version 3.2.2

– Minor bug fixes in preparation for the next update

Misaka version 3.2.3

– Fixed a bug that prevented file sharing
– Supported file overwrite replacement

With Misaka version 3.2.4 being the latest release at the time of this writing, we strongly recommend that both existing and prospective users consider installing it at their earliest convenience. By keeping software up to date, you can ensure that you have the latest bug fixes and improvements, while also having the latest features whether you intend to take advantage of TrollStore 2 or not.

Misaka is a package manager app that hosts add-ons that take advantage of the MacDirtyCow and kfd exploits. It also hosts packages for iOS & iPadOS 17 that make use of the Picture in Picture mode or that run tweaks using JavaScript. It’s a highly versatile tool that has received lots of praise recently, and it’s easy to see why.

If you’re not already taking advantage of Misaka, then you can acquire the .ipa file for it from the project’s GitHub page. You can then take advantage of one of the tutorials below to get it installed:
