When you update your iPhone to iOS 17, enable the Apple Watch pinging feature in the Settings app so you can locate a misplaced watch from the Control Center.

  1. Go to Settings > Control Center on your iPhone running at least iOS 17.0.
  2. Tap the + (plus) sign next to Ping My Watch to add it to Included Controls.
  3. Invoke the Control Center by swiping down from the top-right corner (Face ID devices) or up from the bottom edge of the display (Touch ID devices).
  4. Touch the Ping My Apple Watch control in the Control Center.

This feature works in the same way as pinging an iPhone from your Apple Watch, meaning it leverages Bluetooth to help you locate your watch. Therefore, its utility is limited to the Bluetooth range of approximately thirty feet or ten meters.

If you’ve misplaced or lost your Apple Watch at another location, use the Find My app or iCloud.com to track it. The Find My app also lets you put a lost or stolen iPhone or iPad in Lost Mode, as well as erase it remotely or play a sound.
