AR games are getting lots of attention for good reason. They’re seem to get better and better each time a new one comes out. The devs are figuring out how to push the technology and we all get to play stupidly amazing games.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is the king of the hill of AR games, as far as we’re concerned. Forget Pokémon GO, the AR effects here will blow your mind, make you laugh and you’ll run to show it off to everyone you know.

This game is an outrageously fun and high-quality game that you have to play to appreciate. Whether or not you’re already a Harry Potter fan, and all the better if you are, this game will be on your game rotation for a long time to come.

Concept and Gameplay:

As with most great games, the premise is simple, you are a Task Force Volunteer and you’re charged with locating Magical Traces and then returning misplaced things, called Foundables, and also defeating challenges called Confoundables.

An unknown calamity caused all the Foundables to appear in the Muggle world. Over the course of the game, if you’re successful, you’ll cooperate with witches and wizards to solve the mystery.

It doesn’t matter where you are when you start, the AR effects take over and the overall quality, from Niantic, Inc., is quite astounding. Of course it helps that this dev is also the creator of Pokémon GO.

Gameplay is incredible. One of the very cool capabilities in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is that you can actually unite wizards! The realtime multiplayer battles where you cooperate with your buddies is a true differentiator. By teaming up you get to go after harder to find Foundables and compete in some very exciting challenges.

Sure you can have a great time playing solo but don’t pass up the chance for group action.

Features:

The big draw for this game is, of course, the AR aspect to the game play. Take it from us, the effect is about the best available. Very well done.

In addition is the spectacular special AR effects, let’s not forget about gameplay. That’s a major factor here. You’re not just trying to get from point A to point B without dying, you’re also using your noodle to figure out how to make potions, unlocking port keys and make the most of special events from the Ministry.

Among your challenges is collecting books from the restricted section. It’s not easy but if you pay attention we think you’ll do just fine.

Value:

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is available to download from the App Store for free and is universally compatible with iPhone and iPad.

We like that the IAPs start out at $1.69 (bag of runestones & handful of gold), which is quite reasonable, but we’re not thrilled that they go up as high as $169 (Vault of Gold). Be careful how much you spend to feed your addiction.

Keep an eye on this developer as they get more experience with this and other titles, we can’t wait to see what they’ll do next.

Looking for an entertaining racing game that’s a bit retro and lots of fun? Then the Skiing Yeti Mountain app from developer Featherweight Games Pty Limited is just the game app for you!

Skiing Yeti Mountain an incredibly entertaining endless runner-type game that will keep you carving and slaloming for hours on end. So put down Subway Surfers and check it out.

Gameplay:

The basic premise of Skiing Yeti Mountain is the user takes on the role of someone who is searching for an elusive fantasy creature called “Yeti”.

The search for Yeti happens on a snow-covered mountain so, of course, skiing is key to the search.

The terrific controls in this game really make it stand out. With the precise controls you’ll meet every challenge and ski every track as you make your way through patches of trees, skidding over ice or launching off cliffs.

There’s plenty of action over hundreds of levels to keep you busy and quite a few colorful locals along the way to keep you amused.

Just listen to the Pathmaker. His advice when you start playing is key to holding your phone and working the controls so you make it down the hill and stay on course through the slalom gates.

Appearance and Layout:

The overall appearance of Skiing Yeti Mountain is very nicely done. The adorable retro, pixelated, almost cartoonish graphics will appeal to beginners as well as even the most sophisticated gamers.

Let’s face it, it’s all about the action. And this games knows that’s why you fire it up. It does not disappoint. The app layout is simple to figure out and the suggested one-thumb navigation is a breeze to get around.

Background music and sound effects are a hit and add to the overall enhancement of the game.

Value:

At the time of this review this excellent game has a high 4.8 rating but less than 3,000 reviews referenced on its App Store page. It’s what we call a “sleeper”, a great game that not too many people know about.

We predict the number of reviews will increase dramatically as news of the terrific game spreads.

Many game apps out in the market today that do not offer the same amount of various game play that this app offers still is free to download and only $2.99 to remove the ads.

This app caters well to anyone looking for a slick game that’s a nice “pick-up-and-play” game. Go ahead, try it anytime and for any amount of time, it’s all good.

It does not take a genius to figure out how to play this game, but that does not mean that it does not require some practice to get good at it. Its simplicity will get you off to a good start and its challenges will keep you coming back.
