In this guide, we tell you about your options to erase and set up an iPhone or iPad that’s linked to a deleted or forgotten Apple Account that you no longer have access to.

When you set up a new iPhone, you’re encouraged to sign in with an Apple Account (formerly called Apple ID). Signing in with an Apple Account lets you use iCloud, App Store, Find My, and a bunch of important core features.

Nearly everyone sets up their iPhone with an Apple Account. And they also leave Find My enabled, as it’s a terrific safety feature that not only lets you see your iPhone’s location but also secures it with Activation Lock.

Find My Activation Lock is a theft-deterrent barrier that prevents a thief from setting up a stolen iPhone after forcefully erasing or restoring it in recovery mode. As a result, an iPhone with Activation Lock is pretty much a paperweight, unless the thief strips it and uses it for parts (though Apple mitigates this to a great extent by blocking repairs using components harvested from stolen devices).

Signing out of your Apple Account on all your devices is one of the most important recommendations you must follow before you go through the process of permanently deleting your Apple Account.

But in case you ignored that and have an old iPhone that’s still locked to an Apple Account you have deleted or is signed in to an Apple Account you have no way to access, then the only option is to contact Apple Support for help.

But before you do that, get hold of your old iPhone bill by downloading it from your email or the online platform from where you bought the device.

Then contact Apple Support, explain your situation, and send them the original bill/invoice of that old locked iPhone to establish that you’re its rightful owner. They will likely help remove the Activation Lock from that device. Once that’s done, you can set up the iPhone (Activation Lock will no longer get in your way).

In case Find My was not enabled on your old iPhone, you can directly erase it using recovery mode and set it up. Activation Lock won’t block you.

If you didn’t delete your Apple Account but just lost it, try recovering it. Once you get your account email address and reset its password, you can use it to bypass Activation Lock on the old iPhone.

Aside from the above options, there is nothing you can do. That said, you may come across certain Mac and Windows ‘iOS unlocker’ software that claims to bypass iPhone Activation Lock. But they actually never work. I won’t recommend spending money on them.

The 2026 football (soccer) World Cup is scheduled to kick off on June 11, with Mexico facing South Africa at Estadio Azteca stadium in Mexico City. And the grand final will be played on 19th July at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

The 2026 edition features 48 teams (up from 32 in the 2022 edition) and is the first FIFA World Cup to have three host nations: the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

48 teams are divided into 12 groups (A to L), with each group containing 4 teams. The United States is in Group D, along with Paraguay, Australia, and Turkey.

A total of 104 matches have to be played over 5 weeks, resulting in more than one game on most days! So whether you’re cheering for the USA, whose first match is on 12th June against Paraguay, or supporting last edition’s winner Argentina or runners-up France, having the full schedule in your iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch calendar can help better plan your day so you can be free to catch your favorite team’s game.

We’ll show you how to add the FIFA 2026 schedule on both iOS and macOS. But if you use iCloud to sync your calendars, just add it to one of your devices, and the events will sync across all.

And the best part is that the calendar events you add will show the date and time for your local time zone. So, even though the first match is on 11th June for people in the American continent, it will be on 12th June for most of Asia and Australia. You get the idea…

Secondly, as of now, you’ll be adding only the first 72 confirmed games of the FIFA World Cup schedule. Once the World Cup reaches the next stage and the remaining games are finalized (e.g., Group A Runners Up vs Group B Runners Up), the events will update automatically, and you’ll see them in your device Calendar.

Add the 2026 FIFA World Cup schedule to your Apple calendar

1) Visit this FIFA World Cup 2026 games calendar link in Safari on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. We’re using an iPhone for these steps. And once the events are added to your iPhone, they will also appear on your Apple Watch.

2) Tap the Apple iCal option.

3) Tap Find and wait a second.

4) You’ll now see the Add Subscription Calendar page. Preview the events, select the calendar account (e.g., iCloud), pick a calendar color, and choose whether to get notifications for game events. With everything in order, tap the checkmark icon to subscribe to the FIFA 2026 World Cup schedule and see it in your calendar.

Here’s how it looks on Mac.

Once the World Cup is over, return to your list of calendars, tap the info button ⓘ next to the 2026 calendar, followed by Unsubscribe. On Mac, simply Control-click on the subscribed FIFA calendar and select Unsubscribe.

In case you’re unable to tap or click the “Apple iCal” link, restart your device, refresh the page, and try again.
