Rayman Classic, Sunshine and more apps to check out this weekend

We’ve put together an awesome list of apps and games for you to checkout this weekend, including a new weather app that’s beautifully designed and offers some interesting features, and not one but two classic games that have been brought back to life for the mobile era. So without further ado, here are the Apps of the Week.

    Sunshine

Folks looking to try out a new weather application may want to take a look at sunshine. It offers a minimalistic UI that has been very well designed, as you can see in the above screenshots, as well as a handful of unique features. This includes gathering weather information from the sensors in your smartphone, crowdsourcing intel from “Sunshine community” members, and custom weather forecasts that you can tailor to your hot/cold comfort zones. This app is available for free.

    VidMob

There are a number of video editing apps in the App Store that allow you to play amateur filmmaker, but what if you don’t have the time or patience to learn how to use them? Enter VidMob, a new app that turns your clips and pics into stunning videos created by professional video editors. Simply select your media from your iPhone or cloud service, upload it to VidMob, select your editor based on talent/budget and sit back and relax while they create your video. It’s perfect for vacations, weddings and other memorable events. This app is available for free.

    My Blend

My Blend is a new lifestyle app dedicated to turning email newsletters, blogs and brand promotions into a personalized, curated, visually stunning magazine. Essentially it’s like Flipboard for your Inbox. All users have to do is login to their email account within the My Blend app, and it goes to work, automatically filtering out all of what it considers “lifestyle emails” into your Blend Feed. Not only does it make these kinds of emails more digestible, but it makes the rest of your Inbox more streamlined and manageable. This app is available for free.

If you or one of your friends owned an Amiga in the mid-90’s, chances are you remember Tennis Champs. Well this is a remake of that popular game, built from the ground up for iOS by the original programmer. It even features the original characters and [retouched] animations, combined with new physics, AI, new controls and more. There’s also a new Daily Challenge mode, which serves up a mixture of opponents and mini games each day, and Career mode, which pits you against a field of 200 Tennis Pros as you climb your way to the top. This game is available for free.

Here’s another classic title that’s been reincarnated for the digital world. In honor of its 20th anniversary, Ubisoft has released a mobile version of the original Rayman game. For those unfamiliar with it, Rayman is a side-scrolling platformer that was first released in 1995, and is believed by many to be one of the most influential games of all time. In it you play as legendary hero Rayman, who must free the Electoons from Mr Dark, defeat him, and restore harmony to the world. This game is available for $4.99.
