Adobe has updated Photoshop with new AI capabilities across desktop, web and mobile platforms, including the long-requested Generative Upscale feature.

The latest batch of AI capabilities for Photoshop, powered by Adobe Firefly, was announced in a blog post today. The latest AI capabilities include Harmonize, which seamlessly merges added elements into a composition, Generative Upscale, which increases resolution without discernible quality loss, and others.

The features are rolling out now but may take a few days to reach all Photoshop and Adobe CC customers, so check back later if you don’t have them already.

Generative Upscale (beta)

Photoshop has gained an AI-powered resolution enhancer that can boost image resolution up to 8 megapixels without discernible quality loss. This is helpful for refining edits, enhancing image quality for print, reworking older files and more. This feature, in beta, is available in Photoshop for desktop and web platforms.

Harmonize (beta)

First previewed as Project Perfect Blend at Adobe MAX in October 2024, the new Harmonize feature, now in beta, can seamlessly blend added image elements into your composition. This feature uses the Adobe Firefly Image Model, which is available in beta across Photoshop on desktop and web, and in early access on iOS.

Improved Remove tool

Adobe has improved Photoshop’s existing object removal feature, which can now “clean up your images with more precision and quality than ever before.” It also blends edges more accurately with fewer artifacts while generating more realistic content to replace missing parts. The tool is available on desktop and web.

Projects (beta)

The Projects feature is a new way to organize your assets and enhance collaboration. With it, you can share entire collections at once or share files within a centralized workspace. This feature is available in beta on desktop.

Gen AI Model Picker

Last but not least, you can now switch between Firefly Image 1 and Firefly Image 3 models for Photoshop’s Generative Fill and Generative Expand tools. Each Firefly model has unique strengths and styles, and now you can cherry-pick the one you fancy. Gen AI Model Picker is available on desktop.

Photoshop is also available as a native app on the iPhone, which came five years after the release of Photoshop for iPad. Adobe also released Photoshop for Android in June 2025 and Illustrator for iPad in October 2020.
