Tonality, MyHumans, Magpie, and other apps to check out this weekend
Welcome to another edition of our Apps of the Week roundup. This week we have a powerful music tool, a surefire call blocker and a new kind of notes/list app. And as always, we’ve selected two great new games for you to check out.
Tonality – Music Reference
Tonality is the ultimate music theory reference tool for musicians of all skill levels. The app allows you to view and listen to a large database of piano chords and scales and it even includes a built-in chord-recognition tool that can identify chords you play on your instrument. For advanced musicians, this is an extremely powerful tool, and for beginners, this serves as a great way to experiment with new concepts.
MyHumans
There are a number of call blockers on the market, but few are 100% effective. They either rely on AI-powered algorithms or lengthy blacklists, and somehow spammers always seem to get through. That’s where the app MyHumans comes in. Enabling it literally only allows incoming calls for your humans—meaning those listed in your Contacts. The others are automatically sent to voicemail without alerting or disturbing you. As you’d guess it requires a subscription service, but there is a free trial for you to check out.
Magpie
The developers of Magpie describe it as “the beautiful lovechild of Apple Photos and Notes.” The app allows you to combine your photos with things like notes, maps, prices, links and much more. You can also set reminders, build lists, plan vacations and other events, collect ideas for redecorating, and more. Notes apps are one of those things I look at like yeah, there are a ton of them out there, but this could be the ONE that works for you. Comes with a 1-week free trial that DOES NOT auto-enroll you into a subscription.
Serial Cleaner!
Serial Cleaner is a story-driven, fast-paced stealth.action game, set in the 1970s. You play a professional cleaner, whose job is to clean up murder scenes by disposing of evidence and cleaning up blood. Features include welll-done 2D graphics, 70’s-inspired funky soundtrack, story-driven campaign, challenge modes and more. A good cleaner never gets caught, so you have to make sure you get in, clean up and get out without leaving a trace of evidence in this stylish, award-winning action-stealth game.
Plane Race
Looking for something more mindless? Check out Plane Race. Yes it’s exactly what it sounds like—you just get in your plane and fly. You can race through rings, increasing at high speeds, and test your flight reaction time around city buildings and country rocks. The controls are easy to learn, but tough to master, and beautiful graphics and arcade-like gameplay will keep you coming back for more.
