Topaz Photo AI v4.0.2 released to fix artifacting with denoise tools on NVIDIA RTX 50 series-equipped machines
Topaz Labs have issued a minor hotfix update for their popular Topaz Photo AI artificial intelligence-powered photo editing software, this time being labeled as version 4.0.2.
In a blog post, the team explains that the latest update is mostly for machines that have NVIDIA RTX 50-series graphics cards, as these users may have exhibited unexpected behavior when using Topaz Photo AI, such as the development of artifacts when using the Sharpen and Denoise models to clean up grainy images.

– Fix for NVIDIA RTX 50 series Denoise – Strong model
RTX 50 series are some of NVIDIA’s newest graphics cards to hit the market, so it’s not surprising to see a few hiccups here and there with performance on them. New products typically require software updates to get all the quirks worked out, and this is no exception.
It’s worth noting, however, that NVIDIA has had something of a rough patch trying to keep their latest lineup bug-free, however. The perfect storm of buggy drivers, missing ROPs, and product availability issues have caused the company something of a headache with this series.
Of course, that’s neither here nor there, as Topaz Labs was able to get this feature working flawlessly again with this small patch and without referencing NVIDIA’s drivers.
Since Mac users generally aren’t using NVIDIA GPUs, this update primarily targets Windows users. Of course, the update will show up for Mac users as well, and there’s no harm in updating if you are a Mac user and happen to see the update – just don’t expect any new features or improvements if that’s the case.
