Apple releases the first developer betas of iOS 26 and other operating systems

Following the conclusion of its WWDC25 keynote, Apple has released the first developer betas of iOS 26 and its other renamed operating systems.
If you’re a member of the Apple Developer Program who likes to live on the bleeding edge of technology, you can install the iOS 26 beta and other Apple OS betas on your device through the Apple Developer portal. You must install a special configuration profile on your device that will opt you into the beta, which you’ll then install through Settings > General > Software Update.
The first betas can be rough around the edges, so don’t be surprised if the software is littered with bugs or crashes. These operating systems bring redesigned user interfaces that may break things in apps that are not yet optimized for iOS 26.

If you’re not a developer, Apple will release beta versions of iOS 26 for public beta testing in July. You will need to sign up for the Apple Beta Software Program at beta.apple.com and enroll your devices in the beta. Then, you’ll be able to use the standard softer update mechanism to install an over-the-air iOS 26 beta.
As mentioned, iOS 26 brings a major user interface overhaul, dubbed Liquid Glass, across the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, Apple Watch and CarPlay, with lots of translucency, tweaked user interface elements and redesigned apps.
As expected, Apple Intelligence took a backseat at the show as an AI-enhanced version of Siri remains delayed into next year. Apple did, however, show off a few Apple Intelligence tweaks, like the ability to use visual intelligence in apps and create new emoji from two existing emoji characters via an improved Genmoji feature.
