Apple Intelligence no longer marketed as being “available now”

Apple has complied with the recommendation by the National Advertising Division to stop marketing the Apple Intelligence features as being “available now.”

The United States National Advertising Division (NAD), which reviews national advertising in all media, has recommended that Apple remove or update the “available now” messaging on the Apple Intelligence section of its website because some of the Apple Intelligence features it originally advertised were unavailable at the time of the iPhone 16 lineup launch last September.

Apple has begrudgingly chosen to remove the “available now” text, arguing that the missing features are now indeed available, but that didn’t impress NAD. “While these features are now available, NAD recommended Apple avoid conveying the message that features are available when they are not,” reads today’s press release.

Apple Intelligence marketing drops the “available now” text

“While we disagree with NAD’s findings related to features that are available to users now, we appreciate the opportunity to work with them and will follow their recommendations,” Apple said. The company seems to have removed the “available now” text from the Apple Intelligence page on March 31, 2025.

The Apple Intelligence features rolled out in stages, with the first batch arriving alongside iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1 on October 28, 2024. Additional features like Image Playground, Genmoji, Priority Notifications and ChatGPT integration in Siri were delivered via subsequent updates: iOS 18.2 (December 11, 2024), iOS 18.3 (January 27, 2025) and iOS 18.4 (March 31, 2025).

The fine print on the Apple Intelligence page did clarify that not all of the Apple Intelligence features would be available from day one, but that didn’t impress NAD.

“Although Apple launched these features in staggered software updates between October 2024 and March 2025, NAD found that these claims were not properly supported at the time they were first made,” reads the press release. “NAD further found that Apple’s disclosures—such as footnotes and small-print disclosures—were neither sufficiently clear and conspicuous nor close to the triggering claims.”

What about the delayed Siri features?

Apple has also delayed the advanced Apple Intelligence features in Siri that it previewed in June 2024 and even advertised in the now-pulled iPhone 16 ad, ncluding onscreen awareness, personal context and cross-app actions.

“During the inquiry, Apple informed NAD that these Siri features would not be available on the original timeline and that it had updated its promotional materials accordingly and modified claims and disclosures to adequately communicate their status,” noted the organization.

“Additionally, Apple also permanently discontinued the ‘More Personal Siri’ video demonstration. Therefore, NAD did not review these claims and will treat them, for compliance purposes, as though NAD recommended they be discontinued.”
