Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro might borrow the MacBook Air’s Sky Blue color finish
Apple has reportedly tested various color finishes for the iPhone 17 Pro prototypes, with Sky Blue currently thought to be the frontrunner.
Leaker Majin Bu learned from sources close to Apple’s supply chain that the Cupertino company will offer the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro in an exclusive new color option that he says resembles the Sky Blue color finish of the M4 MacBook Air.
Writing on his personal website, Bu also shared that the iPhone maker has tested two other color finishes for its 2025 flagship lineup: dark purple and green. No other source has corroborated this rumor so far. For what it’s worth, the leaker correctly predicted Apple would make the standard iPhone 15 available in green.
Rumor: iPhone 17 Pro in Sky Blue
Still, take this claim with a pinch of salt because of Bu’s mixed track record. In fact, this particular leaker has made many dubious claims so far. For example, he predicted a red iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, plus a rose gold iPhone 13 Pro, neither of which Apple released. More worryingly, he once called for an iPhone with a camera bump that resembles a fidget spinner, which didn’t help his credibility.
Be that as it may, Apple has offered standard iPhones in a light blue color before. Back in 2021, the iPhone 13 Pro was offered in a similar color finish, dubbed Sierra Blue. According to Bu, the claimed Sky Blue color for the iPhone 17 Pro “looks even more stunning than the much-loved Sierra Blue of the iPhone 13 Pro, with a brightness and refinement that make it irresistible.”

The M3 iPad Air was also offered in a similar color option. However, Apple has always reserved more playful and vibrant color options for non-Pro models, while iPhone Pros traditionally came in boring, muted colors. The iPhone 16 Pro models come in four color finishes, called Natural Titanium, White Titanium, Black Titanium and the new Desert Titanium option. Bu was actually the first to reveal the “Desert Titanium” color name several months before Apple unveiled it.

iPhone 17 Pros could have a radically revamped camera bump with a massive horizontal bar spanning nearly full width of the device, much like Google’s Pixel phones, to accommodate a 48MP camera sensor with 10x optical zoom.
