Rumor: “Apple Vision Air” will be thinner and lighter than the Vision Pro

Apple’s next headset should be called Vision Air and be lighter than the Vision Pro thanks to the use of titanium for some of its internal components.
Leaker “Kosutami” shared on X (Twitter) purported new information about a Vision Pro successor. It should be called “Apple Vision Air,” according to the leaker, suggesting a lighter-than-usual appearance. Many reviewers complained that the Vision Pro felt heavy on their head after wearing it for just half an hour.
The Vision Pro weighs about 22.9 ounces, or 650 grams. That’s nearly three times heavier than the iPhone 16 Pro Max (8 ounces or 227 grams) and less than 2 ounces shy of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro (about 24 ounces or 682 grams). With head fatigue setting in after less than an hour, the Vision Pro needs to become lighter.
Apple could actually be working on two new headsets, including an ultra-low-latency model that would require a wired connection with a Mac.
Rumor: Apple Vision Air will be lighter than Vision Pro
The leaker claims the Vision Air uses titanium alloys to reduce weight. He clarified Apple will retain aluminum on the outside, while replacing internal aluminum components with their much lighter and stronger titanium versions, including the connectors and the battery, resulting in a weight reduction.
“Only a few of the internal structures would use titanium to reduce weight, most of the outside would still be aluminum features midnight black like surface,” noted the leaker. Apple knows the Vision Pro is too heavy; otherwise, it wouldn’t be offering Belkin’s head strap for the Vision Pro in addition to providing its own straps (Dual Loop Band and Solo Knit Band) in the Vision Pro box.
The Vision Air will reportedly feature a “midnight black like surface” finish, which looks like graphite dark blue for the iPhone 5 era. The leaker posted a purported photograph of a Vision Air charging connector in midnight black.

It looks like a Lightning plug, only wider and with 2x thicker pins. Also, there are eight pins instead of twelve on the Vision Pro cable. The connector has no hard-locking mechanism. Instead, there are pogo indents on the side so the connector will probably snap easily instead of being locked in place.
It’s unclear from the post whether Apple might offer the device in multiple color finishes. Finally, the leaker claims that the Vision Air will be “so thin,” which could mean that Apple has significantly redesigned the Vision Pro to be far less bulky.
