Apple-owned Beats launches braided USB-C cables for charging, data, audio and more

Apple has released several braided USB-C cables for charging, data transfer and more through its Beats brand, including USB-C to USB-A and Lightning options.

Beats is well regarded for its stylish headphones, speakers and other audio products, but Apple has now expanded the brand’s offering with durable USB-C charging cables. In addition to USB-C to USB-C cables, the offering includes USB-C to Lightning and USB-A to USB-C variants.

This is the first time Beats has offered USB-C cables. “Elevate your charging game and ditch the tangles, kinks and frays with our new reinforced braided cables,” says Apple. “Compatible with all USB-C Apple and Android devices, this braided cable is built for charging, syncing, audio, CarPlay and transferring data.”

Apple releases Beats-branded USB-C cables

These Beats cables sport a woven design to increase durability and prevent tangling and fraying. The USB-C to USB-C cables are rated with up to 60 watts, while their USB-A to USB-C counterparts support charging at up to 15 watts. All cables are rated with USB 2.0 data transfer rates and support fast-charging when paired with a USB-C power adapter and a compatible iPhone or iPad.

These cables come in two lengths, the smaller at 20 centimeters, which works out to about eight inches, and the longer one measuring 1.5 meters, or five feet. A single cable is priced at $19 regardless of the length, and there are 2-packs available.

For example, the 1.5-meter USB-C to USB-C and USB-A to USB-C cables are available in 2-packs for $35. The 1.5-meter cables me in colors, including Bolt Black, Surge Stone and Rapid Red. Only the USB-C to USB-C cable is offered in the Nitro Navy color finish. According to the Beats website, the Rapid Red editions of the USB-A to USB-C and USB-C to Lightning cables will arrive in the summer.

You can order the new Beats USB-C cables via Apple’s online store in the United States at apple.com. In-store availability will start this Thursday, April 17.

With the release of the iPhone 16 lineup in September 2024, year, the brand has entered the market for iPhone cases; Beats now offers cases for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models with perks like MagSafe and Camera Control support.

Apple bought Beats Electronics in May 2014 for $3.2 billion, its biggest acquisition to date. The iPhone maker has kept the Best brand alive and continued to release new headphone and speaker models.
