Apple patches a WebKit exploit with iOS 18.3.2, iPadOS 18.3.2, macOS Sequoia 15.3.2 and other updates

Apple has patched a WebKit vulnerability with the iOS 18.3.2, iPadOS 18.3.2, macOS Sequoia 15.3.2, tvOS 18.3.1 and visionOS 2.3.2 updates.
Apple’s security page notes that today’s updates fix a vulnerability in WebKit, the web browser engine used by Safari, which was exploited in the wild. You don’t need to panic because the vulnerability seems to require significant effort to exploit. Apple’s wording suggests the exploit has been used against high-value targets.
“Maliciously crafted web content may be able to break out of Web Content sandbox,” the page notes. “This is a supplementary fix for an attack that was blocked in iOS 17.2,” it reads. iOS 17.2 was released in December 2023. The company is aware of a report that this issue may have been exploited in “an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals on versions of iOS before iOS 17.2.”
