Meta is working on a new feature that would let you link your Instagram and other social media accounts on your WhatsApp profile on iPhone.
WABetaInfo reports that support for this feature has surfaced in WhatsApp Beta for iPhone version 25.3.10.72. It’s currently under development and not ready for beta testers yet, but the site has unearthed a screenshot of the interface.
This option will be available in the profile settings. For now, only Instagram is available as an option when adding links to the profile. Onc ready for prime time, Meta will push this option to everyone via a future update to the app.
WhatsApp will let you add social media links to your profile
There doesn’t seem to be a verification process for adding social media links. Instead, you just type your Instagram account handle, and it appears as a link on your profile that contacts can tap to access your Instagram account. Meta will likely also let you add Facebook and Threads account links. WhatsApp Business already has a similar option, and Meta hopes that this will boost engagement.
There’s some merit to this; if we just connected on WhatsApp, I’m going to check your profile and will want to click links to your other social media profiles to possibly connect with you there as well. Without social media links, your WhatsApp profile feels disengaged from your social media presence.
All your WhatsApp contacts can see the social media links you add to your profile, but you can change this in your privacy settings. It’s unclear if Meta will only support links for its own social media services. This feature is optional; those who prefer to keep their social media presence private won’t be pressured to add those links to their WhatsApp profile.WhatsApp for iPhone is available for free on the App Store.
WhatsApp is also working on letting you log into multiple accounts on a single iPhone without having to use its WhatsApp Business for a second account. Meta recently made other improvements to the messaging app. For example, WhatsApp now supports Meta’s single sign-on login, making WhatsApp available as an option in the Accounts Center alongside Facebook, Instagram and Quest.
