This new rugged case from WaterField Designs shields your Mac mini in transit
WaterField Designs has unveiled a protective rugged case for Apple’s latest M4-powered Mac mini, its smallest desktop computer to date.
Measuring just five-by-five inches (12.7 x 12.7 cm), the new M4 Mac mini introduced in October 2024 is less than half the footprint of the previous model—it’s almost as small as the Apple TV media player. Because it takes up much less space on a desk than before, the new Mac mini is a lot easier to transport.

The soft, scratch-free padded fleece interior protects your Mac mini from scratches and dings during transport. “Firm, closed-cell foam and plush lining surround all four sides and absorb shock to safeguard the Mac mini,” the company notes.
Strategically placed pockets provide quick access to accessories. On the inside, there’s a plush pocket for holding the power cord, USB-C cables, and other small items. On the lid, there’s a zippered compartment for smaller items like memory cards, adapters, etc. WaterFiled designers thought of everything, so the zipper has a cushioned guard acting as a buffer, protecting your Mac mini from damage.
There’s even a hidden pocket to store your AirTag for tracking! And if that wasn’t enough, you’ll find a mesh pocket on the back to store additional peripherals. A handy nylon loop at the top lets you attach the case to another bag via a carabiner.
Pricing and availability
Priced at $99, you can order your Shield Case for Mac mini through the WaterField Designs website, with shipments starting on Tuesday, January 21. You can choose the case in brown waxed canvas or black ballistic nylon with black, full-grain leather.
