Peak Design’s Outdoor Line of backpacks and sling bags finally available to purchase online
You may recall that back in September, the Peak Design team launched a Kickstarter campaign for an all-new Outdoor line of backpack and sling bags tailored toward the likes of adventurous photographers. Approaching nearly $3.5 million in funding after seeking a $50,000 funding goal, it’s safe to say that the campaign was a complete success.

As of today, Tuesday, November 21st, Peak Design’s Outdoor line of backpacks and slings are officially available to purchase from Peak Design’s website, offering lightweight means of packing tons of gear for lengthy trips on the roads less traveled.
Peak Design’s Outdoor backpacks are available in two sizes, including a larger 45L configuration for heavy packers and a smaller 25L configuration for moderate carry. Lighter packers may instead opt for one of Peak Design’s Outdoor Slings, which are also available in two sizes, including a larger 7L configuration for bulkier equipment, and a smaller 2L configuration for the everyday minimalist.
Peak Design Outdoor Backpack
What you get in the Peak Design Outdoor Backpack is an opportunity to stuff days’ worth of supplies with you for your trip, wherever that might be. With enough room to fit a 16-inch MacBook Pro, camera equipment, and even a water pack that you can sip from during your hike, this backpack has you covered. The spacious compartments can even hold extra clothes and other necessities.
The low-profile adjustable shoulder and waist straps ensure that the back remains snug on your person, even when trekking the most demanding terrains. Like most Peak Design backpacks, the straps also offer convenient attachment points for the brand’s popular Capture camera clip system, which offers easier access to your camera.
Peak Design wanted their Outdoor Backpack to be quickly accessible from any position, and so they made this bag accessible from both a quick-opening top hatch known as the Ultra Cinch and a massive rear access panel. The top hatch offers fast and convenient access to some of the bag’s contents, while the rear access panel quite literally offers total visibility over the entire bag’s contents.
Given the fact that these bags are outdoor-friendly, there are also lots of attachment points for things like carabiners and water bottles, while a Cord Hook system makes attaching tripods, jackets, and other space hogs possible from external portions of the Peak Design Outdoor Backpack.
Peak Design’s Outdoor Backpack retails for $249.95 for the 25L option and $329.95 for the 45L option. Each size is available in three different color options. You can check them out on the brand’s website via the links below:

Peak Design Outdoor Sling
Minimalists who aren’t trying to wear a massive backpack out in public simply because they’re in a more urban environment or because their camera gear isn’t as large may instead opt for one of Peak Design’s Outdoor Sling bags, which are sized just right to fit a moderately sized camera body and perhaps even an additional camera lens.
Sling bags are obviously a lot smaller than backpacks are, so these are better for capturing images during a single day trip than they would be for packing clothes and other necessities for a multi-day trip. That said, Peak Design’s Outdoor Sling Bags don’t compromise on outdoorsy features. They offer a removable strap for the maximum flexibility to convert the bag from a cross-body sling into a waist bag.
Likewise, the outer build materials of the Peak Design Outdoor Sling feature Gear Loops for attaching carabiners or tying other equipment, such as tripods, to your setup.
Another cool thing about the Peak Design Outdoor Sling Bag is that they can be mounted to the shoulder straps on the Outdoor Backpacks, which makes it very easy for users to maximize their storage if even the massive 45L Outdoor Backpack isn’t enough.

Our thoughts
The Peak Design Outdoor line of backpacks and sling bags have been designed with the elements of the outdoors in mind. You needn’t worry about a light sprinkle, as Peak Design uses water resistant materials and zippers with weather-resistant seals. Additionally, you can double-up by putting the contents of your bags into Peak Design’s Camera Cubes and Packing Cubes, which add more material between your gear and the elements.
While Peak Design’s bags have always had a more urbanized look and feel to them, we feel that the Outdoor line evokes a more rugged vibe that aligns with hikers, explorers, mountaineers, and wilderness wanderers. You can rest assured that your equipment is well-padded against drops, pokes, trips, and other hazards that you’re more likely to encounter in the wilderness than on the flat sections of land found in cities.
If being an amateur nature photographer sounds like your forte, then Peak Design’s Outdoor Bags should be on your wish list. Even if you aren’t into photography, these bags are great for packing on camping trips and other outings where you want premium materials to keep your stuff safe from the unthinkable.
