Powerbeats Pro are no more
Apple has now discontinued Powerbeats Pro, its sporty wireless earphones, as its Beats by Dre subsidiary readies their official successor.
Powerbeats Pro are no longer offered on Apple’s online store in the United States and other markets. They’re also unavailable to purchase in Apple’s brick-and-mortar stores everywhere, but you may still get them while supplies last via third-party sellers on Amazon and authorized resellers.
But don’t worry, the Powerbeats brand isn’t going anywhere as Apple subsidiary Beats by Dre has recently confirmed that Powerbeats Pro 2 are in fact in the works and coming sometime in 2025, six years after the first ones.
Powerbeats Pro 2 are coming in 2025
The original model was released in the pre-AirPods era back in 2016. They came with a built-in ear hook to improve fit, and could be worn while working out, which was a thing at the time. Beats, which Apple acquired in 2014, relied on famous athletes to push them as its sporty earphones for the masses.
Apple released Powerbeats Pro in 2019 with a $250 price tag, marketed as “true wireless earphones” because they lacked a neckband-style wire connecting them like the standard Powerbeats did. The new version used Apple’s H1 chip, which brought perks like increased battery life from five to nine hours, seamless pairing, faster device switching, Find My support and more.
