Tattoon, Swell, Arcane Camera, and other apps to check out this weekend
It’s the weekend again, people, and you know what that means: time for another Apps of the Week roundup. This week we have some fantastic picks for you, including an AI tattoo app, an intriguing podcast platform, and a focused camera app. And as always, we’ve selected a fun game for you to check out.
Tattoon: AI Tattoo Generator
Who doesn’t like using AI to impose a bunch of cool tattoos all over their bodies and imagine what it would be like to be your own edgy alter-ego? There are several apps that do this, but today we are pointing specifically to Tattoon. With it, you can browse a vast library of tattoo designs, styles, and motifs. Then you customize your own tattoos using AI and preview them using AR. Holy cow, can you get them 3D printed onto your skin, too? No, but the app will connect you with experienced tattoo artists in your area should you decide you want to bring your creations to life.
Swell
Here is one I’m surprised we haven’t covered before (and maybe we have, but I didn’t see it): Swell. It’s an app that makes podcasting easy and accessible for everyone. All you need is your voice and the Swell app. Seriously, it’s that simple. Record and post anytime, anywhere, and have your listeners reply to you in audio, creating fun conversations and interesting connections. You can also add photos, links, and hashtags, and each episode is capped at five minutes. It’s interesting, to be sure, but it’s one of those things that only works if people use it. Hell, maybe I will record a Swellcast this weekend.
Arcane Camera
Arcane is an interesting app that allows you—or better yet, forces—you to capture the world in a stunning 2.70:1 aspect ratio. It’s expensive at $5, which I honestly didn’t realize when I picked the app, but I have always been drawn to camera apps that focus on one style. If you are in an app with a bunch of different filters and options, you are less likely to go outside your normal settings. Maybe you just don’t know what other settings to pick or what would look good. This way, with Arcane, you are forced to shoot photos in a very specific way. It has a built-in black-and-white filter, a framing indicator, and a few other tiny features. But for the most part, it says this is how you are going to shoot.
Oby Adventure
Dive into the vibrant and immersive world of Oby Adventure, a classic two-dimensional platform game set in a stunning 3D environment. Whether you’re a seasoned platformer enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, Oby Adventure offers a perfect blend of nostalgia and modern gameplay. Play Oby Adventure solo and immerse yourself in an epic journey, or challenge your friends and players from around the globe! Haha, I felt like the developers did such a good job with their description that I didn’t need to add too much. But I know what I will be playing this weekend!
