Apple releases new firmware for AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4
Apple this week released a new firmware update for both the AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4 models. The AirPods Pro 2 firmware has been updated to version 7A302, while the AirPods 4 firmware is now at version 7A304.
Although specific details about the new features included in this update are currently unavailable, it comes just a week after Apple released a previous firmware update for the AirPods Pro 2 to introduce iOS 18 features such as head gestures and Voice Isolation.
One potential addition in the latest update could be the hearing aid and hearing test functionality that Apple plans to introduce to the AirPods Pro 2 later this year. This feature has already received FDA approval, but it’s unclear if it will be included in this update or if it will be part of a future release.
It’s important to note that AirPods software updates are typically installed automatically when the AirPods are connected to an iOS device or Mac and placed in their charging case. There is no manual upgrade option available.
AirPods users can check the current firmware for audio accessories via Settings > General > About, then select the AirPods you wish to view and a menu will appear showing relevant device information.
