Satechi’s Qi2 Wireless Car Charger delivers 15W of power and supports MagSafe cases
Satechi’s Qi2 Wireless Car Charger brings magnetic alignment, twice as fast charging at 15W and compatibility with iPhones and MagSafe cases.
For years now, Satechi has been making premium accessories that look as if designed by Apple itself. The new Qi2 Wireless Car Charger is the latest addition to Satechi’s growing Qi2 wireless charging lineup following the CES announcement.
It’s compatible with the latest Qi2 wireless charging protocol and MagSafe, which Apple contributed to the Qi2 specification. Both these protocols support up to 15W of charging speed versus the 7.5W limitation of standard Qi.
Satechi launches Qi2 Wireless Car Charger
Satechi’s new charger works with the iPhone 12 onward and Qi and Qi2-compatible Android phones. Now, I’ve had phones falling off in-car chargers before.
Don’t sweat; that’s never going to happen with Satechi due to its strong magnetic attachment, which keeps your phone securely in place with a pull force range of 800-878gr. Vertical vents? Simply rotate the clamp before attaching it to the vents.
You can swap the mount for another one with a ball-joint connection. Charging in portrait and landscape is supported—backed by StandBy, in your car!
The charging puck is made from silicone to prevent it from cracking over time. The soft surface ensures you won’t scratch your phone when you snap it on the charger.
The charger connects to power via the included 1-meter USB-C cable. Don’t sweat if your car lacks a USB-C power port—a 25W cigarette light adapter is in the box.
This is an ideal accessory for commuters, road trippers, rideshare, food delivery drivers, and just about anyone needing practical wireless power on the go. If your car supports CarPlay, you can charge your iPhone wirelessly while using CarPlay.
Pricing and availability
The premium-built accessory has a dramatic Spec Gray finish that will complement your Apple aesthetics nicely. The Qi2 Wireless Car Charger is available on the Satechi web store and on Amazon for $60.
The previous Qi standard didn’t use a magnet, so you’ll need a magnetic sticker or a dedicated magnetic phone case to charge standard Qi devices on it. The charger is compatible with MagSafe cases for iPhones. However, credit card or wallet phone cases won’t work, so keep that in mind when making a purchasing decision.
