iPhone 14 Pro Max video diary: Day 1 first impressions
Our videographer Harris Craycraft (@_craycraft) has created a first-impressions video top of post after spending a few hours with his new iPhone 14 Pro Max.
The eight-minute video touches upon the key features exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pros, leaving out ones that are also available on non-Pro models such as emergency SOS via satellite and detecting severe car crashes.
Harris opens the video by taking us on a hardware tour, then proceeds to software, gestures and common tricks for setting up the phone to your liking.
This includes creating your lock screens and tying them to different Focus modes, customizing the home screen and so on. He also highlight useful accessories for iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max and some of the best tips in iOS 16. Read: The 21 best iOS 16 features that everyone should be using
Features exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pros
The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have several features not found on non-Pro models. There’s, of course, Dynamic Island as a successor to the notch that animates and morphs into different shapes as you interact with apps.
On the back, the main camera (previously: Wide Camera) now utilizes a brand-new sensor that quadruples the image resolution to 48 megapixels and uses pixel binning to produce twelve-megapixel shots with much better low-light sensitivity.
The devices also have Apple’s always-on display, which dims the whole screen instead of having your date and clock set against a black background. It’s unclear how big of an impact this feature has on the iPhone’s battery life, but you can turn it off at will to save battery life. Read: How to manage the iPhone’s always-on display
