Apple TV+ offers up another teaser for ‘The Tragedy of Macbeth’ ahead of January 14 premiere
Normally, Apple TV+ has a pretty solid routine for promoting new content coming to the streaming platform. The initial announcement, which is followed by a teaser trailer some time later, and, finally, an official trailer that’s usually at least a couple of minutes in length. This is all meant to drum up attention for the new series, film, or documentary making its debut on the platform.
And yet, things are a bit different for The Tragedy of Macbeth, the drama that hails from director Joel Coen (Inside Llewyn Davis). The project was initially announced in May of this year, and things went pretty quiet as they tend to as everything was finalized. And then in September we finally got the first “official trailer” for the drama, which stars Denzel Washington (Training Day) and Frances McDormand (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri).
That first official trailer was only just over 50 seconds in length, though. And, since then, Apple TV+ has just been offering up snippets of what’s to come in Coen’s directed film. The official trailer is typically meant to show off a more thorough look at the story, the actors, and just about everything else without (hopefully) giving anything away.
And yet, Apple TV+ is apparently deciding to keep playing this one close to the vest. Maybe that’s because it’s based on a story that’s so well known at this point, telling the story of Lord and Lady Macbeth, as the former schemes for power and the latter does everything in her power to support that goal.
You can check out the latest teaser trailer, which recites, “O, full of scorpions is my mind,” delivered by Washington as Lord Macbeth. Plus, we get a look at the film that was completely shot on sound stages, with no on-location filming at all. It’s definitely beautiful and dramatic.
The cast also includes Kathryn Hunter (Rome), Corey Hawkins (Kong: Skull Island), Brendan Gleeson (In Bruges), Bertie Carvel (Babylon), Harry Melling (Harry Potter series), and Alex Hassell (Cold Mountain).
The Tragedy of Macbeth will premiere on Apple TV+ January 14, 2022. You going to check it out?
