I’m a longtime Dropbox user. They were one of the first companies to offer seamless cloud storage and file sharing, and I have yet to see another service come along and offer something good enough (and free enough) to make me switch. That being said, I hate their native Mac app and use this little tip to avoid using it.

If you hate the desktop version of the Dropbox app as much as I do, here’s how to make Dropbox open folders in Finder.

Ensure the Dropbox app is running on your Mac and follow these steps.

Step 1. Click the Dropbox icon in your Mac’s menu bar located at the top of your screen.

Step 2. In the window that pops up, find your account icon located in the far top right and click the down arrow next to it.

Step 3. This should activate a dropdown menu, where you will see a Preferences tab. Click it.

Step 4. We are now in the General pane of the Preferences tab, and you should see the option ‘Open folders in.’ Click it, and select Finder.

Now anytime you tap the Dropbox icon in your menu bar and select Folders, your Dropbox Folder will open in a native Finder window. It feels a lot more integrated with macOS, and again it allows you to skip dealing with the desktop Dropbox app.
