New iPhone 17 and everything else Apple announced today

It’s September 9, 2025, 11:12 AM in Cupertino, and Apple’s annual event, showcasing new devices, notably the iPhone 17 and iPhone Air, just concluded. Apple has announced a series of refreshes to its device lineup, and we’ll tell you about them, along with their prices, colors, pre-order dates, and more.
For starters, Apple transitioned to an online event format five years ago, and this new tradition continued this year as well, with a pre-recorded, high-quality video presentation.
The event started with Tim Cook’s famous ‘Gooood Mooorninggg’ and then various Apple employees and presenters introduced these new devices:
- AirPods Pro 3
- Apple Watch Series 11
- Apple Watch SE 3
- Apple Watch Ultra 3
- iPhone 17
- iPhone Air
- iPhone 17 Pro
- iPhone 17 Pro Max
AirPods Pro 3
When you look at AirPods Pro 3, it seems to have the same design as its predecessors. But it gets these notable improvements, while keeping the same price of $249:
- Better noise cancellation. Two times better than AirPods Pro 2 and four times better than the original AirPods Pro.
- Live Translation powered by Apple Intelligence
- Heart rate sensor for workouts.
- More battery life — now up to 8 hours with ANC and 10 hours for hearing aid.
- Smaller in size and for improved fit. Stays secure during intense workouts.
- IP 57 sweat and water resistance.
All in all, these handy upgrades makes the world’s most popular in-ear wireless earphones even better.
- Pre-order: Starts today. 9th September 2025
- Available: 19th September 2025
- Colors: White as before
- Price: $249 (same as previous generations)
Apple Watch
Apple has introduced new versions of its three Apple Watch models. As expected, all new variants get a few new features, and here are the main highlights:
- Cellular models of Series 11, SE 3, and Ultra 3 now support 5G, while not being a battery hog.
- Apple Watch can now detect and notify you of possible hypertension.
- A new Sleep Score feature that will tell you about the quality of your sleep.
- Series 11 now gets an increased 24 hours of battery life compared to 18 hours on older models.
- Watch SE continues to be of great value and now gets an Always On Display, watchOS gesture support, wrist temperature sensors, and can play media on the speaker like last year’s Series 10 and this year’s Series 11.
- Watch SE also gets fast charging support, and juicing it for 15 minutes gives you 8 hours of runtime.
- The Apple Watch Ultra can now connect to satellites located up to 800 km above the Earth.
- Watch Ultra also gets an improved 42 hours of battery. Ultra 2 had 36 hours of advertised battery backup.
All new Apple Watch models:
- Pre-order: Starts today. 9th September 2025
- Available: 19th September 2025
Apple Watch SE 3:
- Colors: Black (Midnight Aluminium) and Gold-ish (Starlight Aluminium)
- Price: $249 (GPS) and $299 (GPS + Cellular)
Apple Watch Series 11:
- Colors: Rose Gold Aluminum, Silver Aluminum, Space Gray Aluminum, Jet Black Aluminum + Natural Titanium, Gold Titanium, Slate Titanium.

Apple Watch Ultra 3:

- Price: $799 (GPS + Cellular)
iPhone 17
Apple no longer has the ‘Plus’ model of regular, non-Pro iPhone, as the new iPhone Air now takes that place. But the regular, smaller iPhone lives on, and it’s an incredible value this year. It gets:
- 120Hz ProMotion display
- Always On Display
- Starts at 256 GB of storage.
- 3x better scratch resistance
- 30 hours of video playback. This means iPhone 17 gets 8 hours more battery than iPhone 16, which had 22 hours of advertised video playback.
- New 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera. iPhone 16 had a 12 MP ultra-wide camera.
- Pre-order date: September 12, 2025
- When available: September 19, 2025
- Colors: Lavender, Sage, Mist Blue, White, Black
- Price: Starts at $799 for the 256 GB model
iPhone Air
This is the new iPhone model everyone was excited about.
It’s a 5.64 mm-thin iPhone with no significant loss in battery life (but note that its advertised battery life is 3 hours less than iPhone 17).
iPhone Air only supports eSIM, and no physical SIM models are available for this anywhere in the world.
Just like all other new iPhones launched this year, the thin iPhone Air has a 120Hz ProMotion screen, which also supports Always On display.
However, unlike the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro/Pro Max, which have an aluminum frame, the new iPhone Air has a titanium frame. Apple has said that the new iPhone Air is “more durable than any previous iPhone.”
- Pre-order date: September 12, 2025
- When available: September 19, 2025
- Colors: Sky Blue, Light Gold, Cloud White, Space Black
- Price: Starts at $999 for the 256 GB model
iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max
And finally, we come to the most premium and most capable iPhone ever.
As expected, Pro iPhones get a new A19 Pro chip (which is also on iPhone Air), with a performance boost.
Pro iPhones now get a new 8X optical zoom, up from the maximum 5x zoom on iPhone 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max, and 15 Pro Max models.
Aside from this, they have more or less the same size and other specs as last year’s models.
- Pre-order date: September 12, 2025
- When available: September 19, 2025
- Colors: Cosmic Orange, Deep Blue, Silver
- Price: Starts at $1099 for the 256 GB Pro model and $1199 for Pro Max model. There is also a new 2TB Pro Max model that costs $1999.
All models this year have:
- 18MP Center Stage front camera
- Dual video recording.
- 48MP fusion rear cameras
- 120 Hz ProMotion
- Always On display
One thing to note is that both the regular iPhone 17 and the iPhone Air still have the slow USB 2. Pro models continue to have USB 3 for up to 20 times faster data transfer speeds.
Pre-orders for iPhone 17, iPhone Air, and iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max will begin on 12th September 2025 (Friday), and they will be available to customers on 19th September.
Along with these major upgrades, Apple also talked about its in-house N1 wireless chip, new TechWoven case, and an Apple strap for iPhone.
If you want to catch the full 1.5-hour event, you can do that at Apple’s website or on YouTube.
