3 new iPhone features in iOS 26 that allegedly won’t arrive until next year

Apple will unveil iOS 26 later today, and a new report alleges that three major new iPhone features have allegedly been delayed into next year.
Apple will preview iOS 26 at the WWDC25 today, with a major emphasis on a redesigned user interface, dubbed internally Liquid Glass, polls and AI wallpapers in the Messages app, then new Games and Preview apps, plus other changes.
We head an AI-infused Siri won’t be featured during the keynote; according to Mark Gurman at Bloomberg, an overhauled digital assistant remains delayed and won’t appear in the initial iOS 26.0 update. “It’s still far out, and the company isn’t planning to showcase any significant new Siri features at this year’s event,” he wrote.
iOS 26: 3 new iPhone features delayed into 2026
AI-infused Siri
“A further revamped voice assistant, dubbed LLM Siri internally, is still probably a year or two away, at minimum, from being introduced,” he added. Apple famously promoted the vaporware Siri upgrade in its iPhone 16 adverts before it had to admit that the feature was far from finished, plunging the entire company into an AI crisis.
Apple promised us Siri upgrades, such as personal context understanding, letting the assistant use your data like emails to provide answers to contextual questions like “When’s Mom’s flight arriving?” Another upgrade would permit Siri to execute complex actions by chaining together multiple actions across apps.
A revamped Calendar app
Apple is revamping the built-in Calendar app across the iPhone, iPad and Mac and adding AI features to automate tasks. It’s a major undertaking as Gurman claims that the redesigned versions won’t be ready in time for the iOS 26 launch this fall.
“It originally planned to introduce the software this year, but it’s been delayed and is now slated for the subsequent set of operating systems,” he wrote. “Likely to be dubbed iOS 27 and macOS 27, next year’s software is already in development. Those upgrades are internally dubbed Buttercup and Honeycrisp, respectively.”
A revamped Health app
Gurman said in March that Apple was working on a redesigned Health app with an AI-powered health coaching offering personalized medical recommendations. He originally said the refreshed software would drop alongside iOS 19.4 in the spring of 2025. However, he now expects it to arrive next year.

“Apple has also been working on an end-to-end revamp of its Health app tied to an AI doctor-based service code-named Mulberry,” he wrote. “Neither will be shown at WWDC and, due to delays, likely won’t be released at full scale until the end of next year at the earliest, as part of Buttercup. There will be smaller changes this year.”
No new hardware at WWDC
WWDC is a developer-focused event where Apple previews the latest advancements coming to its software platforms in the fall. While Apple did announce some hardware products at prior WWDCs, it’s unclear whether that will be the case today. Some folks are expecting a new AirTag model to be announced during the keynote. Others point to Apple’s recent trademark of the term “homeOS” as proof that Apple’s rumored smart home hub will be unveiled at the event.
