Epson has announced that the latest laser projectors in its PowerLite lineup natively support Apple’s AirPlay and HomeKit features out of the box.

HomeKitNews reported today that Epson’s latest fixed-lens laser projectors that are part of its PowerLite series can now act as AirPlay receivers. This means Apple users can wirelessly beam videos like their favorite Apple TV+ shows from an iPhone, iPad or Mac to watch on a compatible Epson projector.

In addition to video, AirPlay lets you showcase photos, share presentations or play audio like music and podcasts on your projector.

Epson’s latest projectors support AirPlay 2 and HomeKit

The company embedded native AirPlay 2 into the firmware powering the above projectors, not the regular AirPlay, meaning your Epson projector can be integrated into your multi-speaker setup powered by AirPlay 2. For example, you could play your favorite music or podcast on the projector and your other AirPlay-enabled speakers throughout your home, including the HomePod, all in perfect sync.

Epson says these PowerLite series projectors have AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support out of the box: EB-FH18, EB-FH54, EB-994F, EB-L890E, EB-L795SE, EB-L790SU, EB-L890U, EB-L895U, EB-L790U, EB-L690U, EB-L690SU and EB-L695SU.

These things support HomeKit out of the box, too. HomeKit is Apple’s proprietary standard for the connected home. With HomeKit support, the above projectors can be managed in the Home app on an iPhone, iPad and Mac. For example, you can turn your projector on or off from within the Home app.

HomeKit support also lets you use these accessories in your smart home scenes and automations, and control them via Siri voice command on your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, HomePod, HomePod mini or Mac. No software update is required as AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support are pre-installed and already active on the above models.

1080p resolution and 8,000 nits of brightness

“By integrating Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit into our projector line-up, we’re addressing the needs of teachers, business professionals and home users who value ease of use,” said Massimo Pizzocri, vice president of Epson Europe’s video projector division.

“We understand that educators, business professionals and home users alike are seeking seamless ways to share content and control their environments,” added the executive. “With these updates, our latest projectors deliver stunning visuals while integrating flawlessly into today’s smart ecosystems.”

The latest PowerLite models for personal use bring crisp visuals thanks to WUXGA resolution (1920×1200) for watching 1080p movies, videos and games without any loss of quality. In addition, they offer up to 8,000 lumens of brightness and other perks. Epson also offers business-focused projectors aimed at enterprise users.
