Apple “product renaissance” could take place around two years from now

Apple reportedly has some pretty exciting gadgets in store for 2027, with the company’s roadmap being described as a “product renaissance.”
Apple cannot release those products until it has launched the rest of its 2025 lineup. Besides, its engineers are currently preoccupied with the tablets, computers and other gadgets that the tech giant will release throughout 2026.
In the latest edition of his Power On newsletter for Bloomberg, Mark Gurman wrote that Apple is planning “a monumental year” for new devices in 2027, “but its current lack of breakthrough designs could make that wait feel interminable.”
Rumor: An Apple product renaissance is coming in 2027
“The good news is, an Apple product renaissance is on the way—it just won’t happen until around 2027,” Gurman wrote. “If all goes well, Apple’s product road map should deliver a number of promising new devices in that period. 2027 is important because this will be the year the iPhone celebrates its 20th anniversary.
Gurman rounded up products that Apple should release by then:
- Foldable iPhone with a nearly invisible display crease
- 20th anniversary iPhone, curved, mostly made from glass, no display cutouts
- Smart glasses sporting a custom chip, onboard cameras and AI
- AirPods with cameras
- Apple Watch with a built-in camera
- Custom AI chips for Apple Intelligence servers
Apple’s first foldable iPhone, should be on the market by 2027. “This device will be unique in that the typical foldable display crease is expected to be nearly invisible,” Gurman has it. Apple should also fulfill its dream of a true fullscreen smartphone that only has a hole in the display for a selfie camera.
“Later in the year, a mostly glass, curved —without any cutouts in the display—is due to hit,” he continued. “That will mark the 10th anniversary of the iPhone X, which kicked off the transition to all-screen, glass-focused iPhone designs.”
Smart glasses and AR glasses
Apple’s first smart glasses are not expected to use augmented reality, displaying stuff like notifications, directions and messages instead. Gurman recently reported that Apple shut down an AR glasses that would have looked like normal glasses but include built-in displays and require a tethered connection to a Mac.
Apple’s long-term goal of standalone AR glasses remains unchanged, but Gurman claims those are at least 3-5 years away.
Meanwhile, the upcoming non-AR smart glasses will feature Apple Intelligence and use cameras to gather context about the surrounding environment for Apple Intelligence’s visual intelligence feature.
Apple’s other projects
Other in-progress projects include a more conversational Siri thanks to large language models (not to be confused with an AI-enhanced Siri delayed until iOS 19 or iOS 20) and a tabletop robot, with a smart home hub still pending.
Gurman notes that some products could be pushed back as their timing is “fluid.” The company reportedly has other major new initiatives on its roadmap, including “a product that will cross a foldable iPad with a touch-screen Mac. That likely won’t arrive until 2028,” wrote Gurman.
