Apple expands its Self Service Repair program to the iPad lineup
Anyone dying to repair their iPad can now access genuine parts, tools and manuals via Apple’s DIY repair program, dubbed Self Service Repair.
Apple launched the Self Service Repair program in April 2022, initially supporting the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13. It later expanded to encompass other iPhones, as well as Macs, displays, and some Beats products.
As of today, the Self Service Repair program also supports iPad models for the first time, with support for the M2 iPad Air (M2 and later), iPad Pro (M4), iPad mini (A17 Pro), and iPad (A16)
The program will provide iPad owners with manuals, genuine Apple parts, Apple Diagnostics troubleshooting sessions, tools, and rental toolkits to conduct their own repairs. It will now support the iPad Air models using the Apple M2 chip and later, M4-based iPad Pro, the latest iPad mini powered by the A17 Pro chip and the latest budget iPad running the A16 chip.
Apple adds the iPad to its Self Service Repair program
If you’re interested, you can order genuine iPad parts from Apple’s self repair store, including displays, batteries, cameras, and charging ports.
The Apple Self Service Repair website also lets you download Apple’s repair manuals and use Apple Diagnostics troubleshooting sessions and tools used at Apple’s retail stores and authorize service providers. There are also rental kits available for iPad repairs.
The Self Service Repair program currently supports 65 Apple devices, including the iPhone 16e and the MacBook Air, and is available in the United States and 33 European countries, coming to Canada this summer.
Details on the Genuine Parts Distributor program
Apple also announced that businesses without a direct service relationship can now order more genuine components through its Genuine Parts Distributor program. At the time of writing, the program offered business users access to iPhone and iPad displays, batteries and charging ports. These orders are fulfilled by third-party distributors: MobileSentrix in the United States and MobileSentrix and Mobileparts.shop in Europe.
