Apple Card slashing Daily Cash back from T-Mobile to 2% in July as card holders receive promotional Uber One offer

Apple this week announced two significant changes to the Apple Card experience, including a reduced Daily Cash back rate for Apple Pay-based purchases made at T-Mobile and a generous free trial of Uber One with enhanced Daily Cash back incentives.
Reduced T-Mobile Daily Cash back
The first change involves a reduction of the amount of Daily Cash back incentive that consumers may earn when making Apple Pay-centric purchases at T-Mobile with their Apple Card from 3% down to 2%.
It’s worth noting that 2% Daily Cash back is the standard earning rate for any user who completes a purchase using Apple Card with Apple Pay, while 1% Daily Cash back is the standard earning rate for any user who completes a purchase using Apple Card without Apple Pay. A 3% Daily Cash back incentive is offered only when shopping via Apple Card with Apple Pay from a select few merchants.
Citing Apple’s ‘Learn how to get 3% Daily Cash back when you use Apple Card with Apple Pay‘ online support document, this change is expected to go live on July 1st, 2025, which means that the 3% Daily Cash back by T-Mobile via Apple Card with Apple Pay remains in effect for just under two more months before the reduction to 2%.
This change includes using Apple Card with Apple Pay for T-Mobile phone bills, buying new iPhones or iPads from T-Mobile, and buying accessories for said devices from T-Mobile.
Once this change goes into effect, the remaining merchants from which users can earn 3% Daily Cash back via Apple Card with Apple Pay include the following:
- Ace Hardware
- com
- ChargePoint
- Duane Reade
- Exxon and Mobil
- Nike
- Uber
- Uber Eats
- Uber One
- Walgreens
Apple regularly makes changes to its Daily Cash back list, as merchants sometimes come and go. It’s best to keep up with this list to maximize your cash back, especially if you use multiple credit cards and want the highest reward from using them.
Uber One perks
Apple also began sending out mass emails this week to Apple Card holders, announcing new Uber One-centric perks and a special sign-up link to take advantage of them. The link in this email is the only way to claim this offer, so those interested had best keep a watchful eye out for it.
The email states that Apple Card holders are eligible for a six-month free trial of Ober One, which offers free delivery for Uber Eats orders, up to 10% off certain deliveries and pickup orders, and a 6% Uber One credits for Uber rides.
After the six months are up, Apple Card holders can either choose to keep their Uber One services going for $9.99 per month or cancel to avoid being charged additional fees. If you use Uber One frequently, then this could be a good perk to have, especially considering it’s one of the 3% Daily Cash back offerings listed above.
While existing Uber One customers can’t redeem this offer to get six months for free, it’s worth noting that all new sign-ups and even returning Uber One customers can take advantage of the promotional offer.
A little good, a little bad
While it’s unfortunate for T-Mobile customers that they will no longer be eligible for 3% Daily Cash back starting July 1st, 2025, 2% Daily Cash back is still a nice return, especially on larger purchases or recurring payments like cell phone bills. Om the bright side, here’s your chance to take advantage of some promotional Uber One perks.
