Apple’s first foldable iPhone could be priced higher than the latest Samsung Galaxy Z Fold
The price of Apple’s first foldable iPhone could be higher than Samsung charges for its latest Galaxy Z Fold 6, which starts at $1900 for the 256-gigabyte version.
Weibo leaker Instant Digital claims Apple could charge between $2100 and $2300 for a base foldable iPhone. While that’s certainly an eye-watering price tag, it isn’t that much more expensive (about ten percent more) than Samsung’s device.
Google’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold is slightly lower at $1800, while the Galaxy Z Flip 6 starts at $1300. Another comparison: A foldable iPhone may cost about $1000 more than the 1TB iPhone 16 Pro Max, which costs $1600 (the base 256GB model is $1200). Apple should aim for the $1999 magic price, but that’s never going to happen.
The first foldable iPhone should be a premium device featuring an invisible display crease and other perks. It’s believed to arrive alongside the iPhone 18 lineup as soon as next year, The Information reported earlier. The leaker has forgotten about Tramp’s new tariffs that may increase the price of a foldable iPhone up to $4000.
Kuo’s expectations for a foldable iPhone: Price and features
Industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted earlier that a foldable iPhone would be priced at north of $2000. Paying more for a foldable device than Samsung customers could make sense; according to Kuo’s March 2025 post on Medium, a foldable iPhone should be marketed as a top-tier model with advanced features such as a crease-free display and a reliable stainless steel and titanium alloy hinge.
He thinks the device will be just 4.5 mm thick when unfolded (9.5 mm when folded), with Touch ID built into a capacitive side button instead of Face ID due to internal space constraints. Kuo thinks the device will unfold like a book to a size similar to an iPad mini, with an approximately 7.8-inch inner display and a 5.5-inch outer display.
Kuo thinks a foldable iPhone could be equipped with two cameras: a front-facing shooter available in both folded and unfolded mode and a two-lens rear camera.
