Jailbreak news of the week: Lars Fröder discusses iOS 17 18 jailbreak challenges, iOS 18.4 impacting JIT, more…

If you’re into jailbreaking your iPhone or iPad, then you have a home here at iDownloadBlog, where many of our staff share the same tenacity for the hobby of customizing their devices well outside of the stock bounds provided by Apple.
In today’s piece, we’ll be discussing all the latest jailbreak tweak releases and jailbreak-related news tidbits that we’ve covered throughout the past work week, spanning Monday, February 24th to Sunday, March 2nd. This is to recap recent news and to ensure that all our readers stay up to date on what’s happening as it happens, just in case it slipped past them throughout the busy work week.
Important stuff from this week
Lars Fröder discusses iOS 17 & 18 jailbreak challenges
Security researcher, Dopamine jailbreak developer, and TrollStore perma-signing utility developer Lars Fröder took the stage at Nullcon Goa 2025 to share the state of jailbreaking in 2025 as it pertains to iOS & iPadOS 17 and 18.
You can learn more about what he had to say in our full news post.
palera1n works on iPadOS 18.4 developer beta 1
Nick Chan of the palera1n development team confirmed that the jailbreak does indeed still work on the latest iPadOS 18.4 developer beta 1 seeded to developers on Friday of last week.
This is not much of a surprise considering how the palera1n jailbreak uses the unpatchable checkm8 hardware-based bootrom exploit, but still cool to see. This only works on the iPad (7th generation).

JIT compilation dead on iOS 18.4?
Apple has officially ended the ability for sideloaded apps to use JIT compilation in iOS & iPadOS 18.4, which could impact the performance of certain sideloaded apps, such as game emulators.
JIT allowed programming languages to be compiled into machine code in real time during code execution, which meant better performance in some cases where software intended for one system would run on another.
