The Vision Pro headset will gain the Apple Intelligence suite of AI features via the visionOS 2.4 update scheduled to release for public consumption in April.

Apple announced that the visionOS 2.4 update includers Apple Intelligence features such as Writing Tools for rewriting, proofreading and summarizing text (with ChatGPT integration to create new content from scratch) alongside the Image Playground and Genmoji image generators. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman previously claimed Apple would release a mid-cycle Vision Pro spec bump, saying it would swap the headset’s M2 chip for the upcoming M5 to support Apple Intelligence.

The information was incorrect. Apple says visionOS 2.4 enables the Apple Intelligence suite of features on existing Vision Pro hardware. Apple Intelligence supports all Apple silicon Mac chips, including the M2 powering Vision Pro. The headset has 16GB of RAM—more than adequate to run Apple Intelligence.

visionOS 2.4 brings Apple Intelligence to Vision Pro

Apple Intelligence on Vision Pro will be available in beta at launch, with Siri language set to US English, with more features rolling out “throughout the year.”

Aside from the features mentioned above, Apple Intelligence on Vision Pro will also include AI-powered Smart Replies in Messages and Mail, the ability to create memory movies in the Photos app using simple descriptions and natural language search to find a specific photo, album or moment in a video by describing it.

Other Apple Intelligence capabilities coming to Vision Pro include priority messages and summaries in the Mail app, Image Wand in the Notes app, summarized notifications and priority notifications in the Notification Center. Image Playground is built into visionOS 2.4 but Apple has also made it available as a dedicated app on the App Store for redownload in case you delete it.

Improvements to Guest User Mode

visionOS 2.4 brings an improved Guest User Mode to make it easier to let others start a guest session from their nearby iPhone or iPad. You, as the owner, can cherry-pick the apps that will be available during the guest session.

With a feature called View Mirroring with AirPlay, the owner can guide a guest through their Vision Pro experience by using AirPlay to see what the guest sees when wearing the headset. For a better experience, guests can optionally save their eye and hand setup for up to 30 days after their last use.

Spatial Gallery is your one-stop shop for immersive content

visionOS 2.4 brings more perks like a new spatial content app, called Spatial Gallery. It brings an Apple-curated collection of spatial photos, spatial videos and panoramas from artists, filmmakers, photographers and other creators across categories like art, culture, entertainment, lifestyle, nature, sports and travel.

At launch, Spatial Gallery will include content from photographers like Jonpaul Douglass, Samba Diop and Fouad Zayed, plus immersive experiences from brands like Cirque du Soleil, Red Bull, Porsche, Arc’teryx and HYBE as well as behind-the-scenes moments from hit Apple TV+ shows like “Disclaimer,” ‘Severance” and “Shrinking,” as well as “special moments from top artists.”

Spatial Gallery will be available in all countries where Vision Pro is offered, except China: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Apple previously said Apple Intelligence will expand to non-English languages with support for French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, Korean and simplified Chinese due in April with iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4 and macOS Sequoia 15.4, including localized English support for customers in India and Singapore.

Apple will also bring a companion Vision Pro app to iPhone with iOS 18.4. “The app will be available to download from the App Store, and will automatically appear on a user’s iPhone once they update to iOS 18.4 and have both devices associated with the same Apple account,” the company notes. The software will let you queue downloads, view various Vision Pro tips, including headset information, and find curated recommendations for new spatial content on the Discovery page.

“On the My Vision Pro page, users will find tips for getting the most out of Apple Vision Pro,” Apple said. This is where you’ll find information about headset serial numbers, the current visionOS version and other information. The My Vision Pro section lets you set up personalized spatial audio, as well as store and view the App Clip code for your ZEISS Optical Inserts.

Apple recently released a dedicated Apple Vision Pro Fit iPhone app which uses the TrueDepth camera to enable potential Vision Pro buyers to determine optimal accessory sizing in the comfort of their home.

Even more immersive content

The latest immersive videos from Apple include “Ice Dive” from the Adventure series, “Sharks” from the Wild Life series, and “Man vs. Beast.” Apple also announced that the latest episode of Boundless, “Arctic Surfing,” is now available, with the next episode of Adventure, “Deep Water Solo,” debuting on February 28.
