WhatsApp will let you log into multiple accounts on a single iPhone without using WhatsApp business or other apps
Meta-owned WhatsApp is working on letting you log into multiple accounts on a single iPhone without having to use its business-focused app.
This feature will solve a significant issue for people who want to use two or more WhatsApp accounts on a single iPhone. This is not currently possible without workarounds such as registering another phone number with WhatsApp Business or using third-party apps that basically emulate WhatsApp’s web interface.
WhatsApp’s multiple account support will require an iPhone with dual-SIM or eSIM support to register a second phone number for another account, but at least you’ll be able to add and manage multiple accounts within a single app.
Multiple accounts coming to WhatsApp for iPhone
WABetaInfo reports that support for logging into multiple WhatsApp accounts on one iOS device has been implemented in the WhatsApp Beta version 25.2.10.70, which is available for testing through TestFlight. The site says the feature is not ready for beta testers yet because it’s in early stages of development. It will be available to all WhatsApp users in a future update to the app.
The Android version of WhatsApp already has multi-account support, allowing owners of Android handsets to log into WhatsApp through different accounts like personal, professional and other accounts within the same app on a single device.
Proper multi-account support will let you add a new phone number to your account by scanning a QR code via WhatsApp’s settings interface. Of course, each account will maintain its own chat history, settings, backups and notifications, but the accounts themselves will operate independently within WhatsApp.
The Meta-owned messaging app will end support for older devices on May 5, 2025. To that end, WABetaInfo reports that the WhatsApp beta for iOS version 25.1.10.72 is the first update that removes compatibility with iOS versions earlier than 15.1 ahead of the deadline. To view the version number of the iOS software powering your iPhone, go to Settings > General > About > Software Version.
Other features in testing include marking channel updates as starred, a refreshed call dialer, displaying PIX keys on profiles, a revamped interface for the Communities tab, music sharing through status updates and more.
Meta recently added WhatsApp to its Accounts Center, allowing WhatsApp users to cross-post status updates, stories and more to Instagram and Facebook.
