The macOS Sequoia 15.2 update includes Genmoji for Mac, a custom Apple Intelligence emoji generator that got delayed in the previous update.

9to5Mac noted that Genmoji for Mac popped up in the second beta of macOS Sequoia 15.2. If you have the update installed and your Mac is powered by Apple silicon, you can invoke Genmoji via a dedicated button on the emoji keyboard.

Apple brought Genmoji to iPhone and iPad with the release of iOS and iPadOS 18.2 in December. However, the feature was notably absent from the macOS Sequoia 15.2 even though that update was released alongside iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2.

This wasn’t Apple’s plan, as the company later updated its website to note that Genmoji would hit Apple silicon-powered Macs “in the coming months.”

When will Genmoji become available on the Mac?

Genmoji for Mac should arrive alongside macOS Sequoia 15.3 unless a critical bug forces Apple to remove it from the shipping version of macOS 15.3. Apple should publicly release macOS Sequoia 15.3 at the end of January or early February.

With Genmoji, yo can create custom emoji characters from short prompts or contact images. It’s basically an AI image generator optimized for custom emoji creation.

If your device meets the system requirements for Apple Intelligence and runs iOS 18.2 or later, peruse our tutorial explaining how to use Genmoji on iPhone.

More Apple Intelligence features coming in 2025

Priority notifications are another Apple Intelligence feature that has been delayed. Apple will deliver a fresh wave of Apple Intelligence features alongside iOS 18.4 in April. They’ll include Siri improvements such as performing complex actions in apps, knowing what’s on the screen, and using in-app information.

Throughout 2025, Apple Intelligence will gain support for more languages, including Chinese, English (India), English (Singapore), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese and others.

Apple Intelligence works on the iPhone 15 Pros, the iPhone 16 lineup, and iPads and Macs powered by Apple silicon M1 chips and newer. According to Apple, the iPhone 16 models run Apple Intelligence up to fifty percent faster than the iPhone 15 Pros.

To run Apple Intelligence, your device must have at least seven gigabytes of free storage. To that end, it is rumored that Apple will boost the RAM on this year’s iPhone 17 lineup from 8 to 12GB to better support Apple Intelligence.
