Looks like Dynamic Island might be coming to iPhone SE 4 after all
If the latest leak is any indication, the upcoming iPhone SE 4 will sport Apple’s handy Dynamic Island feature.
Apple debuted Dynamic Island in 2022, and now Leaker Evan Blass has published purported user interface images depicting an iPhone with a Dynamic Island at the top of the display.
The next iPhone SE is expected to ditch the thick bezels at the top and the bottom for a fullscreen design. As a result, the device should feature a bigger 6.1-inch OLED display with Face ID without becoming visibly larger.
We also saw some iPhone SE 4 dummy units suggesting that the fourth-generation iPhone SE might have the old ringer switch instead of the Action button and no Camera Control capture button found on the iPhone 16 lineup.
Two leakers have suggested that the next iPhone SE will abandon the “SE” naming scheme in favor of a new name: “iPhone 16E.” However, today’s leak contradicts those rumors because nowhere in the code does Apple mention “iPhone 16E.” Instead, the device is referenced as “iPhone SE (4th Gen).”
Which iPhone models have Dynamic Island?
A combination of software and hardware, Dynamic Island is a cutout at the top of the display for the Face ID sensors and a small circular cutout in the display for the camera. Apple’s clever design visually merges the two into a pill-shaped section that expands to provide system alerts or update you about ongoing activity.
The Dynamic Island was introduced on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max in 2022 before expanding to the iPhone 15 lineup the following year.
However, Apple has discontinued the iPhone 14 Pros and iPhone 15 Pros, so the only iPhones currently with the feature are the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models and the iPhone 16 lineup. The other models Apple still offers—iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus and the third-generation iPhone SE (2022)—lack Dynamic Island.
