iPhone SE 4 design leak shows no Action button or Camera Control

Leaked dummies showcase a supposed iPhone SE 4 design featuring an iPhone 14-like appearance but no Action button or Camera control.

Australian leaker Sonny Dickson has shared images of iPhone 14 dummies on his X account, revealing an updated design. To be clear, these are not actual handsets. Accessory makers typically create iPhone dummies to serve as molds for their cases and accessories. Since accessory vendors often have accurate iPhone dimensions months before the new handsets drop, these dummies reflect the current rumors.

Some people say these images give them iPhone 4 vibes, with others likening this alleged iPhone SE 4 design to a flattened iPhone XR. Indeed, one of the early rumors suggested that the next iPhone SE would look a lot like 2018’s iPhone XR.

The dummies also depict an aluminum frame with flat edges that doesn’t look cheap. By contrast, the current iPhone SE 3 sports a rounded frame and shares the same design language as 2017’s iPhone 8.

The biggest change in how the next iPhone SE will look stems from the reported adoption of a fullscreen design. Killing the bezels will presumably enable engineers to increase the display from the current 4.7-inch LCD in the current iPhone SE to something closer to 6.1 inches.

iPhone SE fans have typically preferred the smaller screen size, so it will be interesting to see how they react to the next model. I don’t think they’ll have complaints because the physical device shouldn’t change much.

Going fullscreen reportedly means losing the huge bezels on the top and bottom of the display, as well as the iconic Home button. If true, Apple will have essentially phased the Home button out of the iPhone lineup when iPhone SE 4 drops.

Other interesting observations:

  • There’s a mute switch
  • No Action button
  • No Camera Control button
  • The camera bump is much larger
  • Still a single rear camera
  • Black and white versions but not the red model
  • The black version looks like the old Jet Black finish

According to two leakers, the next iPhone SE will abandon the “SE” naming scheme and be branded “iPhone 16E” instead. Dickson also recently leaked iPhone 16 Pro dummies that show a new space black-style titanium color.
