Learn how to download and use Apple’s cool new Unity Rhythm watch face that animates dynamically when you raise and lower your wrist, impressing your friends.
watchOS 11.3 dropped alongside iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18,3, macOS Sequoia 15.3 and other updates on January 27, 2025. There are no new user-facing features mentioned in the official watchOS 11.3 release notes on Apple’s website.
However, the update brings Apple’s new Unity Rhythm watch face made, which was made available as part of the company’s 2025 Black Unity Collection honoring Black History Month. The Unity Rhythm watch face appears in the Unity collection, which comprises the Unity, Unity Bloom, Unity Lights and Unity Mosaic watch faces.
How to get a new Unity Rhythm watch face in watchOS 11.3
You can use the new watch face after installing watchOS 11.3. With the update installed, touch and hold the current watch face until it zooms out a bit, then swipe all the way to the left and hit the + (plus) sign. Next, select the New Watch Faces option and then hit the Add button in the Unity Rhythm section.
You can now adjust the design by choosing between six color palettes and adding complications in the top-left and bottom-right corner.
The matching Unity Rhythm watch face features custom numerals formed by intertwined threads of red, green and yellow. The watch face reacts to the gyroscope, so when a user raises their wrist to check the time, the strands coalesce from a series of abstract brush strokes into digits. When using the Unity Rhythm watch face, distinctive, rhythmic chimes mark every hour and half hour.
If you like this watch face, you may want to install iOS 18.3 and iPadOS 18.3, which bring a matching Unity wallpaper for iPhone and iPad. It sports the same custom lettering writing the word Unity, which automatically changes its orientation when you lock/unlock the device and open the Home Screen.
How to update your Apple Watch to watchOS 11.3
To update your Apple Watch, open the Settings app on the device, navigate to General > Software Update, and click “Install” or “Download and Instal.” Make sure your Apple Watch is on its charger and connected to Wi-Fi.
You can also update your Apple Watch from your paired iPhone. Open the companion Watch app on the phone, select the My Watch tab, navigate to General > Software Update and touch “Download and Instal” or “Install Now.” You may be asked to enter your iPhone or Apple Watch passcode to continue.
watchOS updates can take several minutes to an hour to complete, so be patient. When the update is installed, you’ll see a progress wheel on the watch. Don’t restart your iPhone or quit the Watch app. When the update has finished installing, the device will restart on its own.
watchOS 11.3 is available on the second-generation Apple Watch SE, Apple Watch Series 6 and later and all Apple Watch Ultra models. Your paired iPhone must be running the latest iOS 18 software update.
